The term “country” music hadn’t been invented yet, so they called it “hillbilly” music. (R&B was called “race” music then.)

YOUR HIT PARADE, 1941
#12 Sammy Kaye: DaddySamuel Zarnokay (1910-87) was an Ohio boy. At college he started his own dance band, a tradition he continued throughout his career. He was a hit on radio with an audience participation gimmick called "So You Want To Lead A Band" where audience members would be called onto stage to conduct the orchestra with the possibility of winning a baton. He was a commercial and entertainment genius.
A point of entertainment history: His show was on the air live when it was interrupted to tell of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
So its time to swing and sway with Sammy Kaye!

Hi Prof!
(GENTLE HUG & CHASTE SMOOCH RETURNED)
Thank you, it is great to see you, too!
We have had one serious storm so yes, there is some snow on the ground.
Today was a “wintry mix” another term for a nuisance storm
(snow to freezing rain and back again)
Had a bad reaction to a new pain med we were trying,
so it’s back to the drawing board with that.

YOUR HIT PARADE, 1941
#11 Wayne King: Maria ElenaHarold Wayne King (1901-85) was an Illinois boy, an impressive athlete in high school who briefly played in the early NFL with the Canton Bulldogs back in the days when George Halas was running the league out of the back seat of his Hupmobile. He spent two years in college in Indiana but left to begin a career in music. Like so many musicians, he did a stint with Paul Whiteman playing saxophone, but he left to found Wayne King and Orchestra in 1927. Kings specialty was waltzes, which is why he became known as Wayne King, the Waltz King.
During the war, King joined the Army and made it up to the rank of major.

We had a cold snap that lasted a week and a half, but no snow to go with it. The cold winds pour through the Fraser River canyon out of Canada, so it gets nippy. We're back to warm rain in a few days.
Did Vancouver and Victoria with a lady I hadn't seen in 20 years who came up from L.A., and spent Thanksgiving with her family in the Seattle area. It was pouring in Canada, and I was wet and cold. But a decent trip.

No doubt the worst is yet to come. It’s been mild here...I’m sitting here barefooted. LOL! We did have a hard freeze a couple of weeks ago but it didn’t last but about 48 hours.
