Elijah Cummings Savages Gruber: ‘Absolutely Stupid,’ ‘Incredibly Disrespectful’
National Review Online ^ | 9 Dec 2014 | Brendan Bordelon

Democratic congressman Elijah Cummings tore into MIT professor and Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber on Tuesday for his remarks on American voters and the passage of the Affordable Care Act.

The ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee made GOP chairman Darrell Issa’s opening statement sound tame by comparison.

“As far as I can tell, we are here today to beat up on Jonathan Gruber for stupid — I mean absolutely stupid — comments he made over the last few years,” he began, staring angrily at the hapless professor.

I agree with Gruber.

The American people just voted for Republicans who, by all accounts are funding Amnesty to the tune of $1 BILLION.

Make no mistake, Democrats hate doing this but it is for survival. He’s under the Bus.

Political theater can have unexpected consequences.

Prior to the revolutionary war, Benjamin Franklin released some private letters from the Governor of Massachusetts in an effort to dissipate the radiacal fervor against Britain and focus it on the Governor. The King's privy council called in Franklin and publicly humiliated him, essentially casting HIM as the instigator of the trouble and no gentleman. Franklin is said to have muttered "I'll make your King a little man for this", flee Britain and throw in fully with the radicals from that point forward. And Frankin went on to be a HUGE factor in America winning that war.

I doubt Gruber becomes a Tea Party activist but he's an arrogant SOB and won't like being publicly humiliated. He may just decide to start blabbing even more, naming names and that sort of thing.

My son-in-law’s Dad is also a professor of Economics at M.I.T and is stunned that Gruber opened his yap the way he did.

Gruber is synonymous with HUBRIS. He won’t do anything but take the medicine and hope they keep him out of jail.

I STILL maintain there is a ‘there’ there with respect to how his multiple consulting contracts were bid and contracted out. I think there is a serious disconnect with the amount of time he could devote among many contracts and what he, or MIT, bid on each one separately.

I will tell you this. MIT Is examining ANY connection they have with GRUBER and the contracts he has or had that place them in jeopardy.

I worked for a university system for 30 years and the legal departments are not there to protect professors. They are they to protect the institution above all else. They will throw him under the bus if it looks like they could be held liable for anything. That is a certainty in my book.

Cummings : The American people are not stupid. They are intelligent, bright, smart people who love this country. They are also well-versed in politics...
Cruz: Yep. They just tossed the Democrats out of Congress.
Cummings: ...half-witted, ignorant, corn-fed, tooth-flicking, inbred hillbilly yahoos too stupid to breathe and too dumb to die.

And the only thing Cummings was upset about is that Gruber's information gave "the Republicans" ammunition to throw this misbegotten law out.

Let's face it. Gruber was arrogant, and he stupidly allowed his arrogance to be recorded, thereby making himself guilty of inadvertently telling the truth.

Democrats cannot forgive that, especially that disingenuous, tiresome old fraud, Elijah Cummings.

The real stupidity was getting caught, which in Gruber’s case, was easy to do because of big mouth disease, the one disease his beloved Obamacare could never cure.

Your connection is appropriate in a way, I suppose. It was not, however, the precise image I was going for. Frankly, mine was much cruder and vulgar, but yours I see does have a real applicability here, too.

““As far as I can tell, we are here today to beat up on Jonathan Gruber for stupid — I mean absolutely stupid — comments he made over the last few years,” “

Yes stupid because Gruber said it publically and may have hurt their bedrock of socialized, Marxist takeover of healthcare.

That hurts, because if there is anyone who is an expert in stupid, its a congressional dim who voted to keep Pelosi at the head of their party.
