The F-35 can only fly on jet fuel under a certain temperature due to a range of heating issues attributed to the F-35B variant’s short takeoff and vertical landing engine. According to the USAF, the dark-green trucks that carry that fuel absorb too much heat from the sun to keep the planes in the sky.

The F-35 performs aerobatics.

Fuel has been used as a coolant in many aircraft for various systems for years.

It’s not a new concept by any means.

Agreed, I’m quite familiar with which you speak, having been a USAF maintainer for 20 years.

With the lack of specifics, as there are none offered in the article, I can’t make a more informed comment.

What’s important is that political donors made a fortune off the f35 project.

Actually, the SR-71 used its fuel as both a coolant and a hydronic in certain subsystems.

But then again, the fuel was a special blend to deal with the high skin temps of a MACH 3+ bird. The AB’s had to be chemically ignited because a plain old flame wouldn’t work.

The interesting thing is that all the tactical jets I have flown have had an oil/fuel heat exchanger to preheat the fuel and cool the oil.

Obama decided to use an Executive Order to violate the Stefan-Boltzmann Law. This is predictably what happens when we have a tyrannical Executive Branch.

I am calling BS on this report. If its liquid fuel and can be dumped into the combustion chamber, it should work just fine in a jet engine. F35 engine may be new hi-tech, but its still a jet engine.

The problem isn't in burning the fuel for propulsion - it's that the plane's systems which generate waste heat utilize the fuel supply like a heat sink. Having the fuel "pre-heated" causes electronic problems.
