Police in Beloit, Wisconsin, want residents to volunteer to let officers search their homes for firearms as part of a new initiative that officials believe will help reduce gun violence.
Beloit Police Chief Norm Jacobs told Wisconsin Public Radio that officers will mostly be looking for guns in homes that residents might not even be aware of. “That’s really what we’re looking for. Maybe we’ll find a toy gun that’s been altered by a youngster in the house — and we know the tragedies that can occur there on occasion,” he added.
Jacobs also told WPR that “gun violence is as serious as the Ebola virus.” The home searches, he argued, are similar to a vaccine to strengthen the city’s immune system, the report stated.
That being said, the police chief admitted he isn’t anticipating a stampede of residents eager to have their homes searched.
In 2014, there have reportedly been seven gun-related homicides in Beloit. Most have victims have been teenagers or men in their 20s.
I’ve never owned a gun in my life but would NEVER let the government do a search of my home.

What a strange dream...
There was a USSC ruling from 1992 case dealing with the Chicago Housing Authority.
The authority required residents to turn in guns. This action was ruled unconstitutional unanimously by the court.
This is a lawful authority asking citizens to surrender their 4th amendment rights.
It seems to be in the same vein with CHA ruling, but then I’m not a lawyer.

And yes I’m talking about carefully de-milled guns.

These people (the police) must have lost their minds...if they ever had one. Incredable!!

In my situation, if they came to my door and demanded to enter without a warrant, they’d have to suffer the danger involved.

Secondly, the police are searching for constitutionally protected rights.

The logic is so shoddy that it would be fit most properly in a NYT or Washington Post article.
I question these peoples mentality? Absolutely insane, like a vaccine??? These type are in charge at various agencies scarrrrrrry.
I’d let them in if they promised to clean up after their search. You know, vacuum, dust, clean the toilet bowls, shower. Heck, I’d let them in every week.........I’ve got nothing to hide
I probably wouldn’t even answer the door.
I would just wait for them to get pissed off and kick the door in.
