PG&E is reporting that 155,000 customers are without power in San Francisco after a massive storm hit Northern California early Thursday morning and fried a Civic Center substation.

Officials are preparing for the possibility of debris slides and tidal waves as a result of the storm. As much as 8 inches of rain could fall over 24 hours, and up to 2 feet of snow is expected to blanket Sierra Nevada ski resorts.

Heavy rain is long overdue in California, which has been suffering from one of its most severe droughts on record. The storm, which is the biggest to hit California in five years, is being called Pineapple Express.

Schools canceled classes and residents collected supplies Thursday morning as residents anticipated a storm with high winds and heavy rain, the Associated Press reported.

Blackouts in most cities result in an uptick in births nine months later. I imagine this blackout will result in an uptick in AIDS, gonorrhea, anal fissures, etc.

They’re always upset with all those carbon polluting power sources so don’t fix anything. They want to go back to a cleaner more green time and this puts them another big step in that direction.

Suffer assholes.

Pineapple Express is just a name they give to any storm from Hawaii hitting the west coast. Weather forecasters have been using it for years.

Well, the AP reporter is a bit of a ding bat here, because the weather phenomena is called Pineapple Express, not the name of the storm. It is called as such because the system comes in from the warmer Pacific waters i.e. Hawaii, hence the Pineapple reference.

We are here in Northern California north of Sacramento. We are having good rain. The problem is, people do not remember the storms of the 60s and 70 and early 80s we would have. There is no weather memory, so a little big storm like this sends everyone running around in circles and buying milk and bread at the store...

That’s a damn shame...
No lights, alarm systems, etc...

Might be time for the Democrat voters of Oakland to do “Social Justice” shopping in San Fransisco.

It's also becuase the media stopped doing journalismyears ago and now just hypes news to get ratings - they act like every weather event is the first time it ever happened and everyone is doomed.
