I Don't Care if Obama Thinks We're Stupid; Just Repeal Obamacare (Gruber)
Creators Syndicate ^ | December 12, 2014 | David Limbaugh

Posted on 12/11/2014 1:34:57 PM PST by jazusamo

Instead of using this space to pretend the newly released CIA "torture" report confirms that the United States is the most evil nation in the history of the universe, I'm going to address Jonathan Gruber's confirmation that he believes we're all stupid.

Assuming you are not under any rocks or haven't been in an underground bunker without access to media, you will have heard that Gruber, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the principal architect of Obamacare, made some unflattering comments about his fellow Americans.

At a panel event last year, discussing how the administration was able to secure passage of the Affordable Care Act, Gruber openly admitted that the administration deceived the American people in numerous important respects about the legislation, bragged about the administration's lack of transparency in the process and outright called the American people "stupid," which I think is arguably the least of these three sins, though it's the one getting the most airplay.

Read Gruber's own words: "You can't do it politically. You just literally cannot do it. OK? Transparent financing and also transparent spending. I mean, this bill was written in a tortured way to make sure (the Congressional Budget Office) did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies. OK? So it's written to do that. In terms of risk-rated subsidies, if you had a law which said healthy people are going to pay in — you made explicit that healthy people pay in and sick people get money — it would not have passed. ... Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically, that was really, really critical to getting the thing to pass. ... Look, I wish (health economist) Mark (Pauly) was right (that) we could make it all transparent, but I'd rather have this law than not."

“I’m going to address Jonathan Gruber’s confirmation that he believes we’re all stupid.”

The shocking truth is that 50% of Americans have a below-average IQ.

Yeah, and the truth is hurting our country.

Possibly, but cannot be assumed. Below median, certainly, assuming an even number of members in the set whose median is being calculated.

Depends on the comparison set or "universe", N, of measurements.

IOW, "stupid compared to what? God? -- that means pretty comprehensively stupid."

Something about IQ testing seems off. For example, lots of high IQ people are stupid.

I got my son’s health insurance 11/11 And it was only $83 or so a month, catastrophic coverage only, $4500 deductible. I only got it because he was without a job, and lives in Calif., and I thought what if he breaks a leg, etc.
Then in Jan 2014 the monthly prem doubled, and the annual deduc went up to $6350
He can’t afford to use it, he did a mission trip in Haiti and came back with a terrible fungus infection on his hands and feet. But can’t afford to go to the doctor, or to pay for the drugs for it. He has been trying to fight this infection since July.
But his policy does cover, for him, a single man, IUDs, birth control, maternity, pedicatric care... He can’t use any of that crap!
but he sure could have used some meds for his terrible infection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And his policy is supposed to go up by 121% in January. So I will have to drop it. He will just have to pay the fine. He doesn’t make enough money to pay for this 121% increase, but makes too much to qualify for a gov. subsidy.

lots of high IQ people are stupid.

Like the MIT electronics man my dad told me about 60-some years ago. He and tons of other people were building the Pine Tree and DEW Line radar systems to protect against polar-route thermonuclear raids by Soviet bomber fleets.

So the old man went up to Thule, Greenland, one day and found there this MIT guy shivering in his short-sleeved sports shirts. Seems nobody ever told him that Greenland is cold.

Of course, I just meant it as a joke — saying something that seems to mean something; but, actually means no more than saying “things fall down”, or “water is often wet”.

If we’re being technical, “average” usually means the “mean”, but can also mean the “median”. In the case of IQ, “median” would be the better measure. By definition, in every country, 50% of the population is above, and 50% below the average (median) for that country.

BTW, the IQ scale originally pegged the USA median at 100. According to the site at the link below, it’s fallen to 98 (don’t feel too bad — Canada’s is 97). Mexico’s is 87 — I wonder if that has anything to do with changing scores?

“The shocking truth is that 50% of Americans have a below-average IQ.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

The even more shocking truth is that some of those who have an IQ well above average are even more stupid than some of those who have below average IQ. In fact some of the stupidest people I have ever known have had very high IQ scores. Actually I have a high IQ myself but I readily admit to having done some very stupid things in the past. As evidence to support what I am saying I offer the subject of your post, Mr. Gruber himself.

One of the highest IQ people I have known personally had a master’s degree in psychology and at 43 was divorcing his third wife, he had one child with each of his first two wives, none with the third, had held 18 jobs since college and was carrying a net worth of about fifteen cents. He was fired from two jobs during the first three years I knew him
and was able somehow to talk his way into another both times. He would get himself hired and do a brilliant job for six months to a year, he would get written commendations for the excellence of his work and then he would apparently say, “Ah, the hell with it” and proceed to screw up royally and get himself fired.

That there “Affordable” insurance ain’t none too affordable is it?

Speaking of stupid, stupid is ANYONE who ever thought for one minute that the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” had something to do with patient protection or care of any kind, affordable or otherwise. I’m not very smart but I never thought that, even for a second. I knew what it was really about before they even wrote it.

It’s not hard to follow, number one priority is to find the most absurd ways possible to hasten the final destruction of what USED TO BE the greatest nation on Earth.

Why not look into Christian healthcare sharing ministries?

Here’s a link to the one we are part of - kind of like catastrophic coverage.
They are exempt from the ocare mandates.

By law, his policy should also entitle him to one free annual wellness exam, to include a pap smear and a mammogram. If not, then the policy is probably illegal and he's not getting his money's worth.
