I don’t suppose it ever occurred to the officer, if he was concerned about the girlfriend being “hysterical”, to put both of them in his cruiser and speed them to the hospital.

I would rather the cop had risked a lawsuit in an effort to save the young man’s life. It might have turned out fine.

Now we can say “At least the officer didn’t get sued”.

Nonsense. That would be a clear case of the cop doing all he could to save a life. He can’t control everything that can go wrong, especially medically, but he can control whether he bothers to try. He didn’t bother to try.
It is from crap like this that I hope one day a cop needs me to save his life. Because as much value as they’ve shown for our lives, I’ll let him die.
