If you watched any of the NFL on FOX Sunday, you may have caught this commercial imploring Dish customers to push the satellite carrier to keep Fox News in the lineup. FNCs current deal with Dish expires this Saturday night at 11:59pmET.
We are simply notifying our viewers about the possibility of not being able to access FOX News on their current satellite TV provider, says Tim Carry, EVP of Distribution for Fox News.
Nearly 20,000 people called the 800 number and more than 75,000 went to the website after the ad aired during yesterdays NFL games. The ad is also airing on FOX O&Os today.
This is the third Dish contract expiration to go public in the last two months. In October, Turners deal with Dish expired leaving 14 million Dish subscribers without CNN, HLN and other Turner networks. Service was restored Nov. 21 after a new deal was struck.
CBS pulled its programming from Dish Friday, Dec. 5. Both sides struck a deal 12 hours later, returning the networks O&Os to the satellite service.
FYI to those that may have DISH network.
Considering FOX is pro-GOPE, not losing much...
That's true to some extent. But consider the alternatives, the TV alternatives. I don't think there are any.
Sadly, you’re correct - no alternatives on TV.
Internet conservative news sources are far more accurate.
Let the Team Obama high-fiving begin!
If FOX NEWS is removed from DISH, I will be looking at other TV services that broadcast FOX News.
WTG Dish! I like to see Dish negotiating on behalf of its customers. Someone needs to stand up against the content providers.
Time to move to Direct TV.
I have a better idea.
Tell DISH you will DROP THEM if they drop FNS.
Not really much better. I bought one of the very first DirectV dishes and systems. You had to pay $700 or so to get all that, and I had to install the dish myself.
Been with them a long time. Had the Premier package with all the premiums, sports, HD all that...it got up to over $150 a month and they just keep going up. I dropped all the extras and notice that I’m satisfied with mostly just the basic stuff. But they still charge out the wazoo for what little they provide. DVR, HD, none of that is really free...
If Netflix were quicker with more releases, I’d drop DirectV and upgrade the bandwidth on my internet. Probably will do that in the not too distant future.
Boy, DISH is dropping channels left and right!
Dish Network’s biggest problem is lack of programming. Great delivery mechanism, no content. Its business model is in a death spiral.
And so your Tea Party station is what?
i didn’t care when they lost some cvs and can stuff. but if fox goes, i am turfing dish, moving to comcast.
Newsmax TV is a bit better.
Content vs, Service. Dish might lose subscribers.
While I have directv (and like it) I recently purchased a Roku 3 streaming box. Rated as one of the better streaming devices, it has lots of content including many news sources. It was almost $100 but once the initial purchase is made a lot of content is free. Also comes with youtube access..............Just my 2 cent.
I have Comcast myself.
What? No Rove/McCain/Grahamnesty/GOP-E Propaganda network? Oh my what in da world am I a gonna do? Same thing I do every day & evening which is not watch it. I don’t watch Satellite TV News unless a big story is breaking. Fox News nightly line up stinks & has for years except for maybe Gretta and they need to ditch Shemp in daytime also. They do have much better anchors than him. I like reporting not theatrics. After 10:00pm all are useless anyway. The Internet has better and faster reporting now.
