Seven more states signed on to a lawsuit challenging President Obama's executive action halting the deportation of as many as 5 million undocumented immigrants, bringing the total to 24 states, Texas Atty. Gen. Greg Abbott announced Wednesday.
The new states to join the coalition were Arizona, Florida, Arkansas, Michigan, North Dakota, Ohio and Oklahoma. The original 17 states, including Alabama, Kansas and Texas, filed suit in U.S. District Court last week, arguing that Obama overstepped his powers in enacting such changes on his own.
"The president's proposed executive decree violates the U.S. Constitution and federal law, circumvents the will of the American people and is an affront to the families and individuals who follow our laws to legally immigrate to the United States," Abbott said.
Supporters of the the president's proposal said the executive order is a welcome measure in lieu of comprehensive congressional action on the issue.
"This action taken by the president is an important first step," said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Chief James R. Lopez.
"In the immigrant communities that we serve, dialogue is important. We cannot do our job without the assistance of everyone in the community, including those who heretofore have had a great fear of reporting crime for fear of being identified as undocumented," he said.
The action "has increased the dialogue. And we are very hopeful that it will continue to increase the dialogue between the immigrant communities and law enforcement to help us do our job," he said.
Jim Wallis, an evangelical Christian writer, political activist and founder of the Washington-based Sojourners community, said he believed the president's proposal will help people around the country.

Obama’s lawyers cannot control the court’s docket so they can’t accelerate the hearing schedule and they have no basis for doing so as there is no emergency on their end. There is an emergency on Arpaio and Abbott’s end.
Arpaio has already won a fast track which indicates the court views his end as requiring emergency consideration.
Going into the 2014 midterms, organized latino pressure groups were heaping scorn upon taxpaying Americans opposed to Obama's E/O----the pressure groups were threatening Republicans with extinction---saying the latino vote was going to destroy them.
REALITY CHECK: 2014's deluge of American votes was a tsunami that submerged DEMOCRATS in waves of defeat. Democrats who ran on amnesty were soundly defeated.
Fox's Britt Hume said the latino vote was not even a factor. Republicans won an historic one-for-the-books election.

And who could forget the imbecilic Gutierrez strutting around, crowing about "having the House votes" to pass the Senate amnesty atrocity?
La Raza President/ and chief hater, Janet Murguia, told hyphenates that it sickened her to hear Americans chanting. She accused Murietta, Cali protesters of having "cloaked their hatred in patriotism" by shouting "'USA! USA!' again and again."
"It mademe angry," she said. "In fact, I was outraged."
Murguia demanded amnesty and said the road to the White House for Republicans goes through the Latino community and La Raza. She also said Republicans who want to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will not get Hispanic votes.

He can ignore it but his contractors and government employees can’t ignore it else they wind up in jail by the Judge’s US Marshal service.
No one is going to screw around with a federal judge.

So with a “fast track” decision, what kind of time lag is usual in the past?
This is fantasy - wouldn’t it be fun if there are policemen or immigration officials at places where they file application to note (or just appear to note) their (illegal alien) identity,
or just have rumors spreading far and wide that obola’s amnesty is a tool to draw them out to be deported.
The left play dirty. We can learn from them.
Fast Track decision means the hearing for preliminary injunction can happen any day now. It’s a short hearing usually as it just keeps everything calm until the full pleading is filed.
A full pleading can be ordered to be filed within 90 days and the response can be about 60 days and then a reply within 30 days. And there can be motions to continue (change filing deadlines for later). Then the judge can take his time to hear the case which can be over 60 days or so and then his decision can be at any time.
Usually because of other cases, these things drag on for about a year or more.
Granting a preliminary injunction takes away the emergency so the court is not going to speed up this case or interrupt other cases. So we can expect a year or more before Obama’s people have a ruling.
But then there is Abbott’s lawsuit which requests an injunction which I believe is a permanent injunction and that will stop Obama cold unless he wants to appeal it all the way to the Supreme Court. That could take years if he has no emergency. He doesn’t have an emergency here.
No it is not fantasy except to the wishful thinking of forum trolls.
The contractor for the ID Cards/Work Permits is General Dynamics in Kentucky. If they violate a federal court order, they get shut down, lose their contract, and go to jail.
No way is any contractor or federal government employee going to screw around with a Federal Judge’s Order. Ain’t going to happen.
You’re dreaming. The central American wave is already on the way. Nothing is being done to stop it. This lawsuit will do nothing. Remember, Boehner is already suing the administration about something, errrm, how’s that working out? I know, super effective.

The lawsuit does not ask the federal court to stop the wave of illegal aliens. It asks the federal court to stop the federal government from making documents that the illegals can use to get SSNs, drivers licenses, IDs, federal benefits.
If illegals learn they cannot get the documents, they will be disinclined to jump the border.
Good. NY won’t because we have the same type of individual in charge here thanks to NYC.
El president Obama has told them to come, and has demonstrated that he will defy the desires of Citizens, the Congress, and the Constitution.
Nothing will stop him until he is stopped, by whatever means is necessary. He is a corrupt and morally bankrupt communist, who holds this country in contempt, and is destroying it in front of us. And we appeal to his lawyers for relief?

Interesting that NGOs such as “The Nature Conservancy” and “Greenpeace” can bring suit against the Executive Branch (AKA: EPA) to get them to address national security “impact” concerns related to emissions, yet...
NGOs such as “Minutemen” are routinely denied litigation access against the DOJ, INS, etc. for national security “impact” concerns related to FELONIOUS immigration.
Legal Standing, in our currently SAD STATE means ^money given to a ruling party^.
Don’t even have to read what states. Minnesota will never be on that list with all of the Democrats flying around like mosquitoes stinging whomever they come in contact with. They welcome anyone, anything liberal.

Okay, so based on that timeline, we’re looking at as much as 180 days.
