Satanic Display at Florida Capitol Damaged
ABC News ^ | December 23,2014 | BRENDAN FARRINGTON

Posted on 12/23/2014 10:50:35 PM PST by balch3

Susan Hemeryck, 54, tried removing the display Tuesday, and when the Capitol Police told her she couldn't, she began ripping it apart. She was arrested and charged with criminal mischief. The display had been erected as a satire by an atheist group to counter a nativity scene, which was taken down the day the Satanic Temple installed theirs.

"It's just wrong, when you remove baby Jesus two days before Christmas and put Satan in his place ? that just can't happen. I couldn't allow it to happen," said Hemeryck, who said she was wearing a shirt that said "Catholic Warrior" when she arrived at the Capitol. "I was there at the right time and the right moment and I needed to take a stand against Satan."

Atheist groups last year began taking advantage of the Capitol's free speech zone after a Christian group installed a manger scene showing the birth of Jesus. The display last year included a Festivus pole in tribute to a holiday created on "Seinfeld" that satirizes the commercialism of Christmas and a display by the Church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster, which mocks beliefs that a god created the universe and argues instead that the universe was created by a plate of pasta and meatballs.

The Satanic Temple display was rejected as "grossly offensive" last year, but this year ? following threats of legal action from the Americans United for Separation of Church and State ? the state Department of Management Services gave its approval.

You know what? I’d like to add. Why don’t you go bask in the glow of Satan’s statue in a state Capitol(built on the blood and tears of men opposed to what Satan represents), and think of how great it is Satan get’s a statue too!

My God, the God of the Bible withstands all scrutiny. He requires me to worship him, not try to tear others down because they believe differently.

Respectfully and sincerely like my Dad used to say.

Go pound sand. For you would be more productive.

I forgive you and will pray that you find the peace of knowing that God is all-powerful and all knowing. I will pray that you learn that the price as has been paid and that Satan will never and can never prevail.

She should have just put a crucifix up in place of the manger scene - that’d bother the Satanists [and the Satanists that deceive people by claiming to be atheist when they are not] more than anything.

They can mock Christmas, but it is harder to mock Easter without demonstrating our point for us. Christ, whose message was one of mercy upon mankind, and not hatred, was Himself mocked for it, even unto casting a robe upon him and shoving a crown of thorns down upon His head to try to trash His authority. And them they began torturing Him, from flogging to murdering Him upon a cross.

It would be entirely appropriate and demonstrative of humanity’s need for Christ to have the Satanists and pretend-atheists and whomever else cares to join in the mockery arrange their displays around a representation of Jesus on a cross.

That’s what Christmas was about. God’s mercy upon an otherwise unredeemable, sinful human race.

The attacks on Christ began even as He was a child; in the course of seeking to kill Him the state at the time sent out soldiers to slay all the children of his age, an ancient form of abortion that still has relevance today.

If they protest the infant in a manger, give them the Christ on the cross.

Bingo.

That “display” was something a grade schooler would put together to be funny or shock someone. It was completely stupid.

If someone wants to display that on their own property or space they have personally paid for...I have no problem with it.

What the heck is garbage like that doing on state property with the blessing of the state government?

I think your post is the root of it with the state government willing accomplices.

My issue is not that it should or shouldn’t be banned.

My issue is why is state government involved with promoting Satanism? There are historically, culturally, and morally, plenty of reasons that Christianity, the Ten Commandments and the Bible are part and parcel to a degree of our government, because those principles are positive, worthy, and are the ideologically progenitors of what we have now (or more accurately, what we SHOULD have now)

See Hugin’s post at #52. That nails it.

If you can’t define religion. Then how can religious protections exist? Islime has been defined as a religion, while their teachings are in direct contention with the majority of what people in America believe. At what point does the insanity stop?

Because there is a point that it stops. Draw the line, or somewhere, sometime, someone will draw it for you. You may not like the results.

No, atheism does not require belief in everything in the universe. Atheism is a belief of nothing. If true, then there is no such thing as good and evil, only points of view. Relativity is king, and anyone can do whatever they want with no consequence because there is no conscious existence after death. Everything is inconsequential. Which is a direct contradiction of what every man, and woman on Earth can feel, yet cannot prove.

You were born from the stars, will die in the stars, the particles making up what you are will be broken down in some uncertain universal death throes. Only to be incorporated into another somehow perfectly adapted intelligent being somewhere else in a new universe that sprang from a giant explosion of matter from nowhere to evolve from multiple particles and unexplainable laws, that defy all we know about the universe(reality). You stare at the evidence to the contrary in everything around you, and tell yourself this is all there is.

I say you will soon be proven wrong. In the small speck of existence your conscious experiences in what you think you know, because there cannot possibly be a God. Yet you are self aware, intelligent, but believe there can not possibly be a supernatural intelligent force outside what you comprehend and perceive as reality. Because you cannot comprehend. I call that foolish. Tell me why we cannot simply duplicate the results of life from absolutely nothing, anywhere, at anytime. Nor observe it in nature, or anywhere else in reality? Yet you claim there to not be a God. If your belief in what reality is were true. Then why the pattern to everything, why not much randomness and varying results? Why is the universe ordered, and not chaotic. Yet, somehow the order and laws we can observe as constant throughout the universe came from some purely elemental chaos that sprang from nothing? Inconceivable.

Atheism is a lie. There is too much order in the universe.

No, that is not faith. I say it is impossible, and you can prove it impossible. Because of every structured cell in your body to the biggest universal super structures(galaxies). They are all very similar. All governed by the set laws of reality you claim sprang from absolutely nothing.

Which means the satanists did the damage so they could make that claim.

These people are so predictable.

had been erected as a satire by an atheist group

Had been erected as an intolerant antichrist attack on Christian religious obervance.

There, I fixed it.

They can call it "free speech" but it isn't "religious" speech.

The big Church of Satan is a (commercial) atheist organization.

Festivus is a joke from a fictional comedy program.

Flying Spaghetti Monster is a joke meme.

None of the trappings are of a sincerely held religious belief in Satan, "poles", or pasta.

They are deliberate attacks on Christian imagery and tradition. It is bigoted intolerance.

Has anyone been permitted to put severed pigs' heads around Ramadan, EID, or other Islamic displays?

Susan no more effed up than Rosa Parks did. It was an act of civil disobedience to an uncivil injustice.

"Americans United for Separation of Church and State " threaten legal action, eh?

So this bunch is NOT what they claim to be?

They are NOT for "separation," They are for Satan.

Problem is you allow one religion in, you gotta let them all in. Everyone loves seperate on on church and state. I prefer separation of state and church. Keep religion out of politics. I hope they prosecute the hell out of this woman for destruction of property

What religion are you referring to?

Satanism? It is commercial atheism created (and trademarked) by Anton LeVay.

Upside down "satanic" crosses are as intolerant (although misunderstood) as if someone wanted to put up burning crosses (painted if not actually on fire) during MLK Day observances.

Festivus? Not a religion.

Pastafarians? Not a religion.

What is the "season" they are marking? Opposition to Christianity.

Jesus “ripped up” the stuff of moneychangers in the temple.

I am not advocating “wilding”.

It’s really laughable because if they don’t believe in God then who are they fighting?

Those who do.

SMASH THE PATRIARCHY

SMASH THE STATE

There's a reason Saul Alinsky dedicated his book to Satan.

Some lighter fluid and a match would have gotten the job done, I’m advised Satan likes fire so what’s the beef?

Has the Klan ever petitioned for a display there on MLK Day? Think it would/should be approved?

Put a sign right next to it saying something about the tolerance of Christmas by radical atheists. “Free speech zone”, right?

How could Satanists be upset by this? She was enough in accord with their main tenet: ‘do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law’.

And from Anton LaVey's commandments:

http://churchofsatan.com/eleven-rules-of-earth.php

"If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy."

Then there is this brilliance:

"Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved."

And:

"When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him."
