f your TV provider is satellite provider Dish Network, you weren't watching Fox News Channel or Fox Business this weekend. On Saturday, after Fox and Dish Network failed to agree on a new contract, (link) This affected Dish's approximately 14 million subscribers.
This halts ongoing negotiations between Dish and Fox over the last several weeks, and now, things are getting ugly, with both sides blaming the other. According to Dish, Fox News attempted to increase fees for sports and entertainment channels during the contract's negotiation, which did not include those channels.
"It's like we're about to close on a house and the realtor is trying to make us buy a new car as well," said Warren Schlichting, Dish's senior vice president of programming. "Fox blacked out two of its news channels, using them as leverage to triple rates on sports and entertainment channels that are not in this contract."

Bummer.
Maybe if Fox New were still conservative, I’d be siding with them instead of with Dish.
I’m siding with Dish.
This contract dispute shows exactly why a la carte won’t happen. Their primary argument is what low interest Fox channels are being bundled with the profitable channels and for how much. The networks want bundles, and they won’t sell any other way.
Money and package positioning. The networks want more money per subscriber, and they want to be in “lower” (basic tier is the golden land) packages to get the most possible viewers (both for the money and the eyeballs).
hubba-hubba....
10/10!
When I see karl rove on hannity once a week im done
Well when I decide to get a TV, it won’t be with Dish network.
In cases like this, the provider doesn’t drop the stations, the stations drop them.
Switching providers wouldn’t necessarily help in the long term because the same dispute will just end up coming up again with other providers.
Same here. I’ll rather watch Two and Half Men on tv (the old ones with Charlie Sheen)
That's racist! (?)
Seems crap like this happens with Dish Network all the time.
When we had to use Satellite for TV, we used Direct TV. It’s by far the best TV provider we’ve had. We’re having to use Comcast right now, and we wouldn’t but we use it for Internet, and we totally hate their TV options/packages. They totally suck!
They did for a few days but now they are back on.
Fox is one of the most profitable content providers out there.
They should hold off until advertising revenues plummet for these jack wagons
That is my understanding, perhaps a few years out of date.
If a satellite has, say, 16 transponders then DISH or whomever could offer 16 packages.
I’m pretty sure there are technical ways to overcome such, but why should they bother when it’s more profitable this way? I for one would gladly pay much more per channel for fewer channels but ones I really want, doesn’t seem to be available yet, though.
Jeanine Pirro on FOX is terrific. Also, I have obtained news, such as about Gruber & IRS scandals, that other networks have censored.
We had to drop Direct when digital TV happened because they didn’t provide local channels at that time. Even with the handy-dandy box and an antenna we still couldn’t pick them up so we switched to Dish. I may be in the minority but I love Fox News and am not a happy camper. I guess I’ll have to switch back to Direct. Life is just getting too complicated.
I just can't stand the accent (whatever it is) or the plastic surgery. But I can tolerate her if the video and sound are off!
