Since he said earlier that the teens were smoking marijuana in the car at the time of the shooting, I'd say linking drugs to the shooting is strongly supported by facts.

These kids were 3 blocks from the Grosse Pointe boundary of Alter Rd. in a now "wooded" sleazy area. Amazing, I drove down that very street to work for over 25 years and can't believe what it devolved into.
According to the article, there are various accounts from the kids involved but I suspect they were meeting a drug dealer to buy some pot, not driving to the movies as one of the kids states since there isn't any movie theater in that area and there's no way they would be on their way to the theater on those two streets.
Charlevoix is a one way street from the Pointes towards downtown. Philip st. is also one way towards Jefferson Ave.
According to the article, they were parked when the gunman approached and opened fire. It obviously wasn't a car jacking since the car wasn't stolen and the gunman fled.
The 16 year old girl that was killed attended University Liggett which is indeed an exclusive private school in the Grosse Pointe area and in fact, my nephew graduated from there, another niece's two daughters graduated from there and another niece has a son who is a current student there.
The one niece whose son is at Liggett, is an emergency room doctor at that very Beaumont hospital where the kids were taken. Since she works second shift, she just might have been on staff Monday night and attended to one or more of the victims.
Hopefully I'll see her tomorrow when we get together for Christmas day and ask her if she knows anything that hasn't been disclosed by the news.........
