Weeeeeelll, the Reader’s Digest Condensed Version is:

After the meltdown and divorce, I found myself stranded in Dayton, OH, at the VAMC there - lived in the domicilary then the VOA building for nearly three years. I grew a beard, because I couldn’t stand to look at the face in the mirror...

When Pop died (Freeper “Skyraider”), Demented Sis proposed that I move down to FL and live with her and her buds until I got back onto a semblance of my feet.

So, I started dating, and lo and behold, there was Bride of Old Sarge, waiting for me. We went from “how-do-you-do” to “I-take-thee-as-my wife” in eight months.

Just. Damn!

I’m lonely if not alone. Does that count? I’m here with my kids, most of whom are busy with their own friends / whatever.

This is a good thread. Over the years I’ve spent some Christmas’s alone and I can empathize that the loneliness can be acute for that short time.

Every emotion from loss of loved ones to loneliness is amplified on holidays. This thread illustrates that you are never alone though when you can share thoughts and feelings with others. Once the holidays are over that acute feeling of being alone goes with it. Here’s wishing everyone a healthy holiday and new year.

Went through a rough patch with her three years ago
when she fractured her pelvis then fell and broke her
leg right below the hip implant.
The operations played hell with her mind for a year or
two, but she’s been better this last year.
Sure is hard to believe my father has been gone 20 years
too.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.
See you on New Years, I’ll be on FR as usual.

My best cat ever was a calico. Assertive, but in a sweet way. She would move books or newspapers aside when we were reading so we could pay attention to HER.

But you're not alone...God is there with you..

I'm celebrating here on my own as family traveled to the West Coast. I have done this before so I know how to festivate solo!... Hope you've done some festive things as well...

Meanwhile....tonight and tomorrow it's all about Him

It’s terrible. But on Monday we sicced a three-lawyer team on them to reverse the looting, but we’re still blown apart permanently as a family over it.

I’m comforted to spend Christmas with the Lord and his son, they’re way better company and make me happy. These mortal souls are torture who don’t know the Trinity.

If you can get the Hallmark Channel they have a continuous scene of a wood burning fireplace and “Happy” the cat in his bed etc with Christmas music in the background. It might be worth a watch. It is relaxing. http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/happy

My Jack Russel does that, if I’m reading he’ll come and
put his nose over the pages....Hey, it’s my turn...
a good belly scratch and then I can continue to read...

Alone.

All alone.

Mom passed away in September at 96. I have two sisters. They want “their money”. We’re currently not speaking.

The girlfriend, who has been unemployed for several years, just got a really good job. She doesn’t need me anymore.

Merry Christmas, everybody.

Past wife was 22 years.

The Bride and I are now 2 years, 2 months, four days, 7 hours, 42 minutes...

(She hates it when I do that...)
