If Palin and Levin Walk, the 2016 Nomination Is Not Worth Having
American Thinker ^ | January 9, 2015 | M. Joseph Sheppard

It's all very simple: the Republicans lost Florida in the 2012 presidential election by 0.88. If conservatives stay at home in 2016 in the same numbers as they did in 2012, then there is no chance of the GOP winning. If conservatives are advised by Governor Palin (unlike in 2012) and Mark Levin to either stay home or vote third-party, then it is impossible to see how Florida could be won by, for example, Jeb Bush.

However, for argument's sake, if, because of Bush's Florida connection and a bad economy, Florida is won, then Ohio (-2.98%), Virginia (-3.88%), and Colorado (-5.36%) also have to be roped-in. The road to 270 Electoral College votes is extremely difficult under the most optimal of circumstances; utter realism indicates that it is impossible with the slightest bleeding off of actual or potential votes from 2012.

What Ralph Nader did for Al Gore's hopes in 2000 would be a pinprick compared to the mountain a Republican nominee would face with a conservative base doing a de Blasio back-turn. There is no comparison with Reagan's 1980 victory, even though there was Republican John Anderson, running as an independent, who got 6.6% of the vote. This is because a Republican won't win both New York and California, as Reagan did, for the foreseeable future.

If the Republican nominee is an establishment figure, a Bush or a Christie, then he has to face the question of his relationship with Governor Palin. Mitt Romney didn't have her as part of his campaign or even have her address the Republican Convention (at which she was the star just four years earlier) in 2012. What did that avail him? There is, of course, no way to determine if the millions of potential GOP voters who stayed home might have turned out...

Just because someone claims authority doesn't mean that they REALLY have it.
The Constitution places real, absolute limits on what authority the Federal government has; these limits are routinely ignored.

Sorta sychophantic

Real conservatives don’t need any pundit or politician to tell them who to vote for

And sometimes those two mentioned are actually wrongheaded

Not often but it happens

If the “base” of a party doesn’t actually vote for the candidates that the party runs how can it be considered “the base”?

Conservatives are the base of an inverted pyramid.

If someone like Bush or Christie is the nominee then a large segment of the conservative base will walk, and they’ll walk regardless of what Palin or Levin do. They won’t have to be lead.

I don't vote based on advice from anyone...as for Governor Palin and Mark Levin; I don't thing either of them has the guts to leave the GOP.

There were Christians who took that position during the American Revolution. I’m pretty sure the Methodist Church endorsed a loyalist position.

I personally believe those who rebelled were following God, but I lack the personal scholarship of the period to opine on how they reconciled the cited passages.

But we are not talking about revolution. We are talking about our responsibilities as Christians participating in a system which we intend to retain, and which we resolve to reform and restore. Then every man must do his part and participate for hope of restoration to be realized. Disillusionment and discouragement are natural, but we must cling to our higher calling and not give way to base impulses.

So instead of 2 moonbat senators, they should have 8 or 12?

No, you'd probably have 2 to 4 moonbats, 2 libertarians, and 4 to 6 Tea Party quality conservatives.

Assuming the split went as the fed ups and right wingers in the state went their way (not likely)

ABSOLUTELY! Fight that good fight! Persuade your associates, write articles and comments to spread your views, run for office, support those whom you believe are God's choice. But do not disengage because of personal offence taken. The stakes are too high to give up!

It would not be that way except along the coast literally

Look at their county electoral map

Democrats would fight to the death to stop this sort of thing

I've put a lot of time/thought into several constitutional amendment proposals, I've gotten a bit of positive feedback, and am considering e-mailing them to the new Congress. (Though the only real chance at adoption, I believe, is via Article V.)

Is Jeb Bush pro-life? That may be his only saving stance. Surely he is and proud to be but how will he articulate his stand? I hope he is not the nominee.

Even if he says he is, Jeb Bush is NOT pro-life! Jeb bush helped Kill Terri Shivo, this info straight from a freeper friend who was there for more than a month in Fla going from the State Capitol and back to where Terri was.

She said that there was pure evil coming from the State Capitol and it was centered around Jeb Bush.

It took me longer to come around.
I voted for Romney, but voted for independents in the recent election.
I, too, will no longer vote for any RINO at any level of Government.

No mas.

Palin and Levin should start the Liberty Party—or Join Reform and transform Perot’s old party into a new Right wing-Tea Party Political force! Others would follow—maybe even Trump! Conservatives need to be in charge—in the Drivers Seat rather than the Rumble Seat they hold in the present GOP.

To Lucian, you should be ashamed, to invoke duty to God to vote.

Venezuela has elections and zero liberty. By law in the Soviet Union, all eligible slaves were required to vote.

Don’t tell me I must so much as condone high criminality with my vote.
