Prosecutors Said to Recommend Charges Against Former Gen. David Petraeus
New York Times ^ | January 9, 2015 | By MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT and MATT APUZZO

WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors have recommended bringing felony charges against retired Gen. David H. Petraeus for providing classified information to his former mistress while he was director of the C.I.A., officials said, leaving Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to decide whether to seek an indictment that could send the pre-eminent military officer of his generation to prison.

The Justice Department investigation stems from an affair Mr. Petraeus had with Paula Broadwell, an Army Reserve officer who was writing his biography, and focuses on whether he gave her access to his C.I.A. email account and other highly classified information. F.B.I. agents discovered classified documents on her computer after Mr. Petraeus resigned from the C.I.A. in 2012 when the affair became public.

Mr. Petraeus, a retired four star-general who served as commander of American forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan, has said he never provided classified information to Ms. Broadwell, and has indicated to the Justice Department that he has no interest in a plea deal that would spare him an embarrassing trial. . .

Either that or he needs all the money he can get to pay his legal defense team.

"Can some one tell me how you can be a 2 star generalwith less than 2 years of service?"

That is done because NOAA and the Public Health Service have commissioned corps that are paid on a military pay scale and some of those are appointed positions. For example a Deputy Surgeon General of the US is the (pay) equivalent on an 0-8.

I’ve heard that the Mexican cartels say the same thing to the next new sherrif in town...

“You can take the GOLD... Or you can take the lead.”

Punctuated probably with a Krugerrand and a loaded cartridge for dramatic effect, and a symbolic contractual ritual.

Yeah... Disappointing especially for a guy who was supposed to be a steward to the legacy of GI Joe.

Was someone around here saying something about choices and honor?

While I'm sure there are patronage appointments, it's at least theoretically given to reflect authority commensurate with the position's responsibility. Reagan's Surgeon General (equivalent of a 3 star) C. Everett Koop, made a regular habit of wearing his authorized uniform...

“If you’re going to call the woman a pejorative name you need to do the same for the guy.”

I find peculiar and unsolicited demands to be the most bothersome.

I have wondered if General Petraeus’s mistress had classified data planted on hers to keep General Petraeus quiet about Bengahzi.

If this administration is willing to blackmail a Supreme Court Justice and bump off the Washington Madam, you know they are willing to do whatever it takes and whoever it takes.

Planting evidence on a computer is pretty basic.

I don’t agree with what he did but everything a 4 star does is official. Also there are laws which protect senior officers and enlisted.

Petraeus job was to push the NWO agenda in the .MIL space. His foibles have put that agenda in jeapordy so now the puppeteers will take him out. The puppeteers are the globalists who are using, amoung other things, CIA funded jihadis like ISIL to implement the police state that only the non-jihadis have to live under.

People are waking up to the fake left/right divisions orchestrated to promote strife that is used to take away our rights. The demonization of Petraeus is going to be used to keep the existing leadership in line. They will burn him for their evil greater good.

Total Agree.

The majority part of the problem is that only a very small percentage of our elected officials have ever served in the military.

When you couple that fact with their control of the media, you have the current installed aristocracy whose goal is to perpetuate itself and maintain their own elite status.

I firmly believe that before you are able to run for any elected office you should have to serve in the military or the Peace Corp.

This whole thing from the beginning smelled like an Axelrod style smear—especially when I heard the Tampa Bay area FBI was gossiping rumors. Whats that lawsuit Sheryl Atkinson is filing against the DOJ for? Thats right, downloading classified info onto her computer.

He took the money first, and remained silent for a year before the election. It’s too late to fully redeem himself, even if he goes the full Hackworth, Team Obama struck first. He hesitated and he lost.
