(Reuters) - The Twitter feed for the U.S. military command that oversees operations in the Middle East was hacked on Monday by people claiming sympathy to the Islamic State militant group being targeted in American bombing raids.

U.S. officials said that the U.S. Central Command Twitter account and its YouTube account were suspended after being compromised. Two U.S. defense officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the hacking was an embarrassment but did not appear to be a security threat.

The White House said it was monitoring the extent of the hacking incident.

” Why does the military have a Twitter feed?”

It’s a public affairs function. Commands also have Facebook and flkr.

What great timing for Obama?

Right before he is about to announce to control the Internet.

Make no mistake the same people that pushing for control of the Internet, Drudge, etc... Are the very same people doing it.

They create the problem, in order to get a reaction, and then come in as the solution.

This is how they do it. Don't fall for this B.S. anymore.

The very people who wanted to control the Internet...Now have their excuse..... This is even THEY created the crisis. That's how they get their power.

Don't be a chump and fall for this B.S.

the timing is uncanny isnt it.

The state of the Union is coming up in a little over a week...

Obies already given some sort of press conference In Iowa I think it was addressing the so called “security Issue”///

They create the problem, in order to get a reaction, and then come in as the solution.

thats the modern tyrants normal avenue of action

the Internet Reichstag FIre has Begun!

Well they certainly are aligned with IS. They helped get it started by releasing their leader from prison and funded them as rebels in Syria. And also pulled US troops too early to give them fertile ground for conquest. One can chalk it up to oligarchy stupidity or allegance to the house of saud, either way the end result is the same. Our military leaders over there just had their personal information released and their families are now targeted.

LOL! Exactly!

They always come up with these dumb comic book names.

That’s how you know its being done from within.

Also notice how they never strike on the Weekends, when they are at home watching football, and the timing is just remarkable. Right before the President is about to give a speech about controlling the Internet.

This is their B.S. excuse now.

this is perhaps the most telling line in the whole account of these "incidemts"

"Two U.S. defense officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the hacking was an embarrassment but, did not appear to be a security threat.,

hacking a youtube and a twitter account could be thought by WHO to be a security threat???
