Conservative Revolt Splits House GOP Group [new RSC!]
National Journal ^ | January 13, 2015 | Daniel Newhauser

Posted on 01/13/2015 10:40:31 AM PST by mrsmith

...The new group, which does not yet have a name, is being de-facto led by former RSC Chairman Jim Jordan, although the formal leadership structure could change. It will also include Rep. Mick Mulvaney, who lost an election to become the chairman last year, disappointing many conservatives. The other founders are Reps. Justin Amash, Ron DeSantis, John Fleming, Scott Garrett, Raul Labrador, Mark Meadows, and Matt Salmon. Most but not all of those members are expected to renounce their RSC memberships, along with other members who will join the group. Many of the members will meet Tuesday evening with Sen. Ted Cruz to discuss their plans and other matters over pizza, though Cruz himself has not been involved in the formation of the new group...

In my opinion, it’s the establishment republicans who are revolting.

The Founders DID, indeed, fight against King George in their state parliaments for decades before they revolted.

A group (I’m sure the media will call it ‘a cabal’) such as this is the correct parliamentary and constitutional response.
Besides being ready to offer Leadership candidates, including Chairmen, they will have the ability to reject Rules on floor votes that don’t reflect good judgement and/or limit admendments- this is a powerful tactic we non-politicians don’t appreciate!

In 2016 the Democrats will (with a presidential year turnout) recapture many of the ‘purple’ district seats that went Republican this year and Boehner’s cabal will be in a desperate strait, IF conservatives are ready to challenge him.

“Too bad the libertarians don’t get behind them as well.”

Amash, I believe, is the founder of the libertarian “Liberty Caucus” so many of them may come along.
I hope they don’t prove a hinderance. They do share a desire for more open Rules, and that is a major improvement this group could accomplish immediately.

Caww, I missed Cruz’ ‘this close to taking back their .gov’ but thrilled he said it! If you can remember where, I’d love to read it.

There’s word from the Senate of four senators including James Infhofe of Oklahama and Bob Corker of Tennessee (close to McConnell) supporting six cent a gallon gas tax hikes in 2016 and 2017.

RINo apologists blame the liberal media and say we are being “divided and conquered”.

We already have been conquered by Boehner, Obama, Reid, McConnell, Pelosi etc. etc. all spending too much money, increasing national debt and leading us in the wrong direction at various rates of speed.

ITS TIME TO THROW OFF THE CHAINS.

I sent my congress critter, Mike Rogers of Alabama, an email and told him I was against Bonehead and Rogers sent me back this long winded letter telling me that he supported Bonehead and why. I did not agree with any of the garbage he poured out on me. I sent him an email and told him I did not agree with him on Bonehead and he is running close to losing me and my wife, and several of our retired military conservative friends around here’s support. I send him emails a lot. I am sure I have been added to some of the government hit lists when the time comes to smash all of we descenders of the Evil Empire of Sodom on the Potomac.

Sounds like you have a “lost cause” there!

Many politicians think Boehner’s ‘Rovian’ policy of giving conservatives “show-votes” that mean nothing, while giving ‘moderates’ real votes that spend real money is a great plan.

My husband and I also live in Alabama’s 3rd Congressional District. We are NOT pleased with Mike Rogers’ vote(s) either! (His office staff know me, but I doubt that he does.)

That’s a great point. I’ll add them to my personal prayer list.

I’m confident Ted Cruz will give them the right info on how to deal with this “split”. Ted has also been working on the newbies over in the Senate.

I’m sure McConnell does like it one bit .. but I don’t think he’s ready to pick a fight with Cruz.

excerpt of the article: “......though it started in the 1990s with just a handful of members, the RSC swelled to more than 170 members in the 113th Congress.”

Perhaps Conservative membership was possibly diluted with a bucket load of RINO’s purposely to make it ineffective. Just surmising.

I think all the “Oldsters” who have more concern for the power they weld then the nation, will oppose these men. McConnell plays on both sides because he doesn’t understand that the nation IS divided and cannot believe any would support these guys.

Unfortunately I think most of them want their own Libertarian “power” so I doubt will, as a group, support this. They too have a base they won’t want to rile as they have difficulty enough keeping it solidified.

It was right after or just before his filibuster....I remember it because I was stunned when he stated so.

It was throughout his filibuster that he ‘fully’ got my attention. I stayed up the entire night listening to him. He simply had me engaged because he explained, in laymens terms, the entire operations of Congress and how they work...it was riviting to me....I learned more about our Government in that one night because he defined it so well.

The man knows how things work....and as much how they shouldn’t be working but are.

Someone else had asked me about that and I wish I had of paid closer attention to when and where he was saying that....all I know is that it did give me hope when I needed to hear something hopeful.
