Chipotle: No pork at a third of restaurants
MYFOXDC.COM ^ | 01-14-2015

Chipotle says it stopped serving pork at hundreds of its restaurants after suspending a supplier that violated its standards.

Chris Arnold, a spokesman for the Mexican food chain, told The Associated Press it's the first time the company stopped serving a topping for its burritos and bowls. He said Chipotle learned of the violation by the supplier on Friday through a routine audit, and did not have a timeline for when carnitas would return to affected stores, about a third of its total base.

I've never eaten at Chipotle but why do I get the feeling this has nothing to do with their pork supplier violating their standards but everything to do with them "offending" mooselums?

I assume that Chipotle is a mexican restourant?
And because Mexicans never use pork in their meals, this just completely makes sense...right?

Bend-over capitulists!

I doubt that. Carnitas might be their best-selling meat topping. If they stop selling that, they'll lose a helluva lot more business than they'd lose by offending Muslims.

A Mexican restaurant that didn’t serve carnitas would go broke in a few days.

First they ban firearms, no pork?

There is nothing I want or need from Chipotle.

Thanks to whiners moving out of the city to the countryside, raising a large number of hogs outdoors is now a no-no.

And now they whine about large hog confinement operations down the road because they might smell them one day a month.

No worries ... pork will be back soon enough. The Mexicans don’t care what the Muslims think? ... :-) ...

from another article...

Chipotle appears to be branching out to vegans. If you order an organic tofu Sofritas on Monday, Jan. 26th at any Chipotle in the US or Canada, you can bring the receipt back on your next visit (Jan 27th through Feb. 28th, 2015) for a free burrito, bowl, salad or taco

organic tofu Sofrita?

my my... doesn't that sound yummy

I will say in Indiana this has changed a lot. Family sized hog farms are pretty much gone replaced by ginormous production operations.

The average # hogs on one location has gone from 900 to 9000 since the early 90s.
That’s a LOT of manure in one place.
