GOP Retreat: Rep. Jeff Denham Says Party’s Quietly Crafting Broad Immigration Bill

The GOP’s most outspoken proponent of comprehensive immigration reform let loose in an interview with reporters here, detailing quiet efforts to draft far-reaching legislation, saying House leadership is “committed” to bringing the hot-button topics on the floor and criticizing President Obama for carrying out too many deportations.

“We’re the party of deportation? Look at this president’s numbers!” Rep. Jeff Denham said.

The California Republican says he is part of a working group laying the ground work to bring forward comprehensive immigration reform, and that top-ranking Republicans are supportive of addressing the full gamut of immigration topics in legislation in 2015.

“I think leadership’s commitment is not only to bring up immigration reform, but to bring it up in multiple different bills. The question is the timing of that and the sequence of those bills,” Denham said.

“We’ve gotta be able to discuss the DREAMers, the 11.5 million that are here today, as well as a Guest Worker program, in the overall discussion of border security,” Denham said, later adding, “We’ve had a working group for quite some time on the various pieces of immigration on doing everything from a comprehensive bill to a step-by-step approach, but finding out who in our conference is actually open to debate and discussion.”

The revelation is important because shortly after the election, Speaker John Boehner warned Obama that moving ahead on executive actions called unconstitutional by Republicans, including Denham, would kill all chance of immigration reform.

By hook or by crook, they want to get this stuff codified, that is, into law.

They couldn't get it done in 2006 or 2007, not in 2013 or 2014. So the president acted on his own and they now want to codify what he did.

"....the DREAMers, the 11.5 million that are here today"

Why do they insist on calling them "Dreamers", they are criminals, law-breakers, they defied our immigration laws.

They’re big business’s “dream” employees and media’s “dream” audience!

They’re a nightmare for America’s workers, but that isn’t as important to politicians as the profits of donors and media.

Any good feelings from Nov 2014 are gone. Nothing but being stabbed in the back since election night.

Remember when Barry and his “progressive” commie ‘RATS started pimping this “hardworking” immigrants crap? There were only “5 million” illegals in the country. Now, it’s already gone to 11.5 “love” stories and we haven’t even started with this commie BS yet.

Immigration reform is about greed.

Immigration reform is about money.

Immigration reform is about supply and demand.

Increase the supply of labor and demand falls, wages fall, your wages fall.

Ask yourself why the government CHOOSES to not enforce immigration law?

The political donor class and the employer class hold the reins of the government through how the political parties are funded. These are the people who are demanding the government ignore parts of immigration law.

Why?

Greed, plain and simple.

Increase the labor supply and the amount you have to pay people goes down, and you no longer need to treat them very well, because there are MILLIONS of hungry fearful people who will put up with it because the supply of jobs shrinks relative the number of people looking for work.

Thats a ‘win win’ for the employer class and the political donor class.

Once again the middle class is being squeezed for the benefit of the few, follow the money.

Any politician who pushes immigration reform without demanding the laws on the books be enforced is an enemy of your future, an enemy of your childs future.

Those politicians are doing the work of the employer class and the political donor class, society and culture be damned.

Dare to speak against them and you will be labeled ‘racist’ by the media, a media controlled by the employer class and the political donor class.

The government no longer is about public service, it is about the money.

When the government is free to select which laws to enforce, with the blessing of the courts your freedom vanishes.

And there is no one to vote for who could/would fix it, from either party.

We are so screwed.

You leave out the profit motive of the media who control the debate.

I think that is THE main reason we’re screwed.
There is no “public forum” to discus the issue openly.

No indication they intend to control the border.

Most of us knew that already. On second thought, everyone knew it. The liberals masquerading as Conservatives, the GOPe plants and cadre on this forum also knew it. They just denied it.

Denham, who's wife is a latina is torn and confused on the social side of the immigration issue.

Build the wall first? - not sure

Clamp down on illegal voting? -- too hard

Stop aid and public schooling for illegals? - hateful idea.

He will stand with Boehner.

Yes, but it was only possible to begin with because of the treason of a bunch of unique little snowflakes that ignored his PROMISE to push amnesty and voted for him anyway.

We could solve this problem by giving Denham’s seat to a Democrat. We should help his D opponent defeat him in 2016.
