“Walker/Cruz would work for me.”

Walker/Cruz, Cruz/Walker...either one is good for me, too!!!!

You are correct. My mistake was associating the beer with a friend from Wisconsin.

Yep. I think Walker-Cruz would make a great ticket in either order. The rap on Walker will be that he barely won Wisconsin, which is true, but he won it three times (election, recall, re-election).

Wisconsin hasn't voted for a GOP president since Reagan's 49 state landslide in 1984.

Priebus has his current position due to his engineering the victories that brought Walker the governorship - as well as control of the legislature. He had his share of bad apples like Dale Schmidt - who worked with the Dems against ACT 10 (he’s gone now). Priebus, despite being unreasonably hated on - actually ran a tight ship here - and regularly defunded office holders that were not conservative enough when they ran for reelection and were primaried (not a new practice, but one that has long occurred in WI politics)- which froze them out. The WI victories in ‘10 led the way among Tea Party victories.

Walker jumped into the task immediately and became the focal point for myriatons of leftist hatred as everybody knows. We obviously love the guy here.

Priebus came into his position really as an outsider in national politics though, and while he was given a bag of cement called Romney right out of the starting gate has at least solidified gains unlike Steele. Not all of the ‘14 victories were good for conservatives though, and I’m sure he’s uneasy about that. I worked at the Republican Party of WI at HQ in Madison during the run up to 2010 and after ACT 10 - so I got to deal with him first hand - he’s not a GOPe as he’s often labeled - he’s a true believer. He’s also, despite that Greek name a true WI guy - hunting, fishing and drinking beer pretty much like the rest of us.

Walker and Cruz are the only people on my radar at the moment.

Yep, having had to run for re-election a dozen or so times in the last five years, you gotta believe that any "dirt" on Walker has been dug up and recycled.

If he ever put the family dog on the roof of his car, we would've heard about it by now.

Good let him run. I’ll be interested to hear what he has to say on all the important issues. I hope Cruz, Paul, Perry, Jindal et al run so we don’t just morph immediately into Mitt vs. Jeb.

It seems to me that Scott Walker might be the candidate who has the best chance of being accepted by both the conservatives and the moderates of the Republican Party. From what I have seen, Scott Walker is conservative but isn’t as strident as Ted Cruz so he isn’t quite as offensive to the moderates.

Didn’t the GOP-e stiff him on money during his recalls?

Run Scott Run!

Although I’m sure he’s not perfect enough for the purist crowd.

That is how it’s coming down for me. He is solid on pro life. I read that he supported open carry. Hopefully his position on the 2nd Amendment is solid.

A good thing about Walker is his relative “obscurity” for lack of a better word. Too many are already over exposed and have a weighty list of negatives from the get go.

They have to tailor a campaign to first neutralize their negatives.

I will bet that 99% of Republicans (and a lot of FReepers) could not identify him in a lineup. I could not - but, there again, I do not watch TV.

I don't remember that but they might have but even then I wouldn't read too much into it. Money is limited so it needs to be allocated to where it will do the most good. Just because the MSM breathlessly reports public polls showing a close race doesn't mean that internal polling isn't showing a different story.

It depends on how you define handily. I define 60% or more as handily, not the lows 50% range, which were his actual results.

Walker's best showing was 53.1% in his 2012 recall election, still better than BO's 52.86% vote in his 2008 "landslide" election against the hapless McCain.

However, I don't consider either a landslide.
