Fox yesterday said they could have drifts of 6 feet deep...
Over at the AccuWeather forums, they are discussing a ‘shift’ in the storm’s direction resulting in a lowering of snowfall totals around New York City. Don’t count your chickens...
Its nothing compared to the snowjob were getting from Washington...
Snow ma gettin as hymn calls it. Oh he’s so cute an smart too choke cough puke must be the co two.

I used to be a cynic about the hyping of snowstorms in this area but I've seen way too many accidents brought on by jerks driving too fast for the conditions and thinking that their 4WD or AWD makes them invincible (it doesn't). Especially tractor trailer trucks. Some of those morons cause the worst of the pile-ups by trying to maintain highway speeds in blinding snow.
I used to be a hero about making it to the office on days like this but with modern technology, I can be just as productive at home as I can be in the office - so long as I keep my power on!
Pshaw. The headlines make it sound as if we’re in a panic here when we are not. At least most of us are not. We’ve dealt with even worse snowstorms many times before.
Electronic signatures have gone some way to making it easier to work from home, but some financial places still insist on receiving signed letters faxed to them. In a worst-case scenario I can walk home (about 2.5 miles), but I’m not looking forward to that.
Thankfully the kids are old enough to help with the shoveling (and the reverse 911 last night indicated they’re having a half-day today).
I can’t wait to see if this storm is more “historic” than last year’s “historic” polar vortex storm or if the “historic” lake effect storm in Buffalo earlier this year was more “historic” than both of these “historic” storms. Anyway, something is going to be “historic” now that the “historicness” of the “historic” Obama regime is starting to wear off.
Me too, until they started naming every flake that falls and now I'm a true believer! /s
When in PA for 30 years, we had several storms of 2 feet or more. I don’t recall having one where there were such strong winds as they’re predicting. The drifting will be unreal and there will be piles of snow against sold surfaces like garage doors/fronts of houses easily exceeding 6 feet.
In NYC, it’s a nightmare because they have to figure out where to put the snow after the streets are plowed. Probably dump it in the river, but that will take a lot of time.
The worse storm I can recall was in the early 90’s - about 2.5 feet. It took over a week for the community to start functioning normally again. No school for a whole week.

I was born in the Panhandle, about 30 miles from Amarillo, and lived there until I was 16. I seem to remember more than a few crippling blizzards striking the area. Locals used to complain that the only thing between the Panhandle and the Artic Circle was a barbed wire fence or two.
I think you mean strikes.
A salient feature of the newest claims of global warming is a number of pockets of ocean that show higher surface air temperatures.
Surface, as in superficial. These are influenced by the surface water temperatures, which are warmer than normal. Nobody has bothered to check what lies beneath.
It even snowed down in central Mexico. Check it out here.

His scientific advisors aren’t very good... that’s how it can be.
OK, so how many people are going to know what a “jotun” is?
The jan 96 storm was epic. Just epic. It was like a giant had frosted the entire landscape with 7 minute frosting.
A lot of 7 minute frosting.
