[March 25, 2013] Bobby Jindal’s Voucher Schools Teach That Slavery Was Good, and The KKK Are Grea
Politicus USA - Real Liberal Politics ^ | March, 25th, 2013 | Jason Easley

Gov. Bobby Jindal’s voucher schools are teaching Louisiana kids that most slave owners were kind to their slaves, and that the KKK are civic reformers.

Bobby Jindal’s usage of Louisiana as a prop for his 2016 presidential campaign is doing a lot more damage to the state than the rest of the country can ever possibly imagine. However, Jindal’s isn’t just wrecking the state for today. His “school choice” plan is being used by the far right to teach rewritten history and whitewashed racism to the state’s children.

Jindal’s voucher schools will be free to teach lessons like slave owners were pretty good guys, “A few slave holders were undeniably cruel. Examples of slaves beaten to death were not common, neither were they unknown. The majority of slave holders treated their slaves well.”—United States History for Christian Schools, 2nd ed., Bob Jones University Press, 1991.”

Louisiana’s kids will also be learning that the KKK is just misunderstood.

In Jindal Land’s classrooms, the KKK is really a reform organization that was concerned with morality, “[The Ku Klux] Klan in some areas of the country tried to be a means of reform, fighting the decline in morality and using the symbol of the cross. Klan targets were bootleggers, wife-beaters, and immoral movies. In some communities it achieved a certain respectability as it worked with politicians.”—United States History for Christian Schools, 3rd ed., Bob Jones University Press, 2001″

According to Crazy Crawfish’s Blog, “Louisiana’s state Superintendent of Schools, John White, is aware of these troubling texts being used, as is BESE president, Chas Roemer, but they believe a parent’s choice to send their kids to a school (that teaches slavery has gotten a bad rap) is not just ok, but should be defended at any cost. They feel it would be an injustice to interfere in the teachings of voucher schools. . . at least those that teach that ownership of other human beings was not something to be ashamed of, but something to be proud of.”

This is the kind of education that Bobby Jindal wants to give to all poor and middle class Louisiana kids, on the taxpayers’ dime.

Bobby Jindal is ruining Louisiana today, destroying the state for tomorrow, and he wants to be your next president.

Islam practices slavery TODAY.

Arabs hold Black African slaves TODAY.

Oops... sorry for the interruption...

Now back to our regularly scheduled wailing and gnashing of teeth regarding slavery 150 years ago in the US.

Now THAT is “revisionist history” at its best——NOT.

Interesting that they’re lowering the boom on Jindal. I expect him to be a cabinet member in a Ted Cruz administration.

If you gotta go back twenty five years to find your pull quotes, you might not be dealing in what the rest of us would call “reality”.

Phillis Wheatley 1753-1784 is an interesting case.

She was a slave and superstar poet of the day and freely traveled to Europe and back on her own. She wrote about the crime of slavery and the fact that she had been freed from the barbarism of Africa. She wrote the eulogy for George Whitefield’s funeral.

The left wildly oversimplify things for a reason.

How is the following a Whitey Washing of History:

A few slave holders were undeniably cruel. Examples of slaves beaten to death were not common, neither were they unknown. The majority of slave holders treated their slaves well.”

The rest of the article is just so much pablum and an invention of some sort...

Interesting!

I’ve never heard of her, so I did a bit of searching and found this:

Treating a slave badly was akin to owning a Rolls Royce and using it to pull stumps and haul manure.

I had a chance to have a conversation with CL Bryant last year about this time and he convinced me to look forward to black history month.

He says conservatives both black and white should seize our rightful place in black history and show that there is so much more than simple Hollywood slavery.

Calvin Coolidge isn’t known as a great civil rights fighter because he didn’t give blacks free stuff but he was solid when it came to standing up for equal rights for blacks at a time when the progressive klan was at their most powerful.

Salem Poor was a former slave who fought in the battle of Bunker hill and received a congressional commendation on the recommendation of more than a dozen officers. Poor had bought his freedom for 27 pounds which was a year’s pay for any free man. The fact that poor was able to earn the 27 pounds tells me that his owner allowed Salem to do work for himself on the side.

James Armistead Lafayette was a slave who went to fight for Washington and ended up as a double agent under the Marquis de Lafayette. He ended up in the British camps spying on both Benedict Arnold and Cornwallis as well as feeding them false information.

Armistead fell through a legal loophole that didn’t allow him to be freed after the wall because he was a spy and not a soldier. When George Washington died the Marquis de Lafayette found him and went to congress and asked that he be freed and he was. Armistead went on to become a farmer and even owned a few slaves himself.

“No more of a fairy tale than stating that the Black Panthers are an altruistic generous group of men and the NAACP is looking after the betterment of all blacks.”

Black Panthers were staunch defenders of the Second Amendment.

Slavery - not good, no matter who does it.

Desegregation - now that can be argued, BIG TIME, as it led to the DESTRUCTION of black neighborhoods in US cities.

The really dangerous/deadly work was left to Irish immigrants. The slave owners were not about to endanger their valuable property, but preferred to use the low-wage immigrants. I want reparations NOW!

Yes. When someone has been designated a DEVIL by the Left, it means they never did ANYTHING positive. Thus, it is forbidden even to MENTION that the KKK opposed wife-beating or bribery in public office.

If you dig a bit I doubt there is any group who does not have a grievance.

Everybody hand the guy to your right a quarter.

OK, now that everyone has been paid reparations can we get on with life without the whining?

I think Armistead was freed in the 1780s a few years after the war, thanks to Lafayette’s efforts on his behalf, not after Washington’s death (Dec. 14, 1799).
