The only complaint I have is that since the old, dead iMac was incapable of running, it was not possible to recover the Time Machine backup to build the new system.

Did you try starting it in Target Mode to use it as a Hard Drive? If it would power on at all, you can often do that. If not, remove the hard drive, buy an inexpensive case, and put the drive in it. . . you may be able to retrieve your files to a new user on your new machine. I've done that.

I’m devoted to Apple and the reason is neither childish nor pathological, it is, in fact, logical...I’m a graphic artist who works in the publishing industry and Macs are better suited to publishing workflows, handling fonts, colorspaces, color modes and exporting PS/ID/IA PDF’s better.

They’re also built to exacting standards and last forever, I’m still using a Quadra 800 I bought at Comdex decades ago, and all my Mac Pros, Power Macs and my Mac 604e still work...I doubt the same can be said for PC’s, although our database person’s Lenovo E20 seems to be built like a tank.

Now, I doubt I’ll feel the same way in five years, Yosemite is worse than Snow Leopard, oriented towards user-friendliness and away from being able to use it in a complex workflow, and the new Mac Pros are awful compared to the old Power Macs, with no expandability and limited customization...

The problem with the iMac was traced to a damaged logic board. That, in turn, had damaged the hard drive. The tech I was paying couldn’t even copy off a disk image.

I should say that the problem with the logic board began when I lived in Maryland. Many thunderstorms and nearby lightning strikes. Even though I always used a heavy-duty battery backup/surge protector/power conditioner, power hits undoubtedly still got through.

We’ve gone over this time and time again, we don’t work for Apple, we just prefer iPhones and Macs.

He won't listen or learn. He's toad deaf.

Notice too no one mentions the cost of anti-virus etc software and maintence fees ... aslo tech support where one guy undoes some of what the first guy did, and the third guy restores half of what the second guy did, but forgets to remove the key logger software ...

Come springtime there’s dozens of gardening threads about maters, cukes, peas, methods of gardening, getting rid of pests, etc.

Some threads are even about growing apples, you can visit them and say how much you hate them, too!

My boss has a Galaxy and he loves it, it’s actually a pretty cool piece of kit, although he’s had to replace it twice!

But it’s a nice phablet...I’d be happy using one, although I’m used to the iTunes/Mac environment.

The Apple TV is worth it, if you’re already part of the Apple ecosystem. The pictures you take with your iOS devices show up on Apple TV, you can view your movies and music you got on your iPhone and iPad, on your Apple TV. If you take a video with your iPhone, you can “beam it” (so to speak) over to the Apple TV to view on your big screen. If you have an app on an iPad, viewing a movie, it can be handed off to the Apple TV.

Apple TV is definitely part of the Apple ecosystem.

Why is it Apple is the only company where any disagreement or skepticism about an article elicits accusations of being a "hater"?.

Steve showed the world that it doesn't need bits, bytes, files, directories, usb ports or any of that stone age crap. All you need is the App Store and a credit card. If you can't see why this is good for America then you must be a hater. Pure and simple.

I’d take that, disgusting as it is, over Bill Gates’ tyrannical thugishness in trying to seize our guns.

He’s donating huge amounts of money to that Mussolini wannabe Bloomberg, who is setting up petitions drives to register guns and stop private sales.

Bloomie’s petition drive succeeded in Washington state and he’s announced that he’s coming after Oregon, my hometown, next...right now private sales are legal, no background check, no registration, and if Bloomthug/Gates and M$ get their way, we will be the next state to adopt draconian gun control measures, so...on the whole, that thug Gates is a lot more evil than anything Apple’s ever done.

So... basically... we should be reluctant supporters of the gay agenda?

“On a phone, can anyone tell the difference between 32 and 64 bit systems?”

There’s no difference on a computer, why would there be a difference on a phone

I would never support the homo agenda, but seizing our guns and removing our 2nd Amendment rights supercedes all else, in my opinion.

Watching two pervs kiss on TV versus the state ordering me to register all my guns, well, it’s obvious which is worse for this country...
