Outside the Lutheran Hallgrímskirkja -- the largest church in Iceland -- there stands a monument to the Viking explorer Leif Erikson that was a gift from the USA back in 1930.

Saw it with my own eyes.

Some might regard it as a monument to a pagan, but Leif Erikson did eventually convert to Christianity.
