Texas Sen. Ted Cruzs strategy of blocking a vote on President Barack Obamas attorney general nominee until the White House relents on immigration executive actions ran into a brick wall Wednesday: his own GOP colleagues.
Republican senators dismissed Cruzs proposal for denying Loretta Lynch a confirmation vote in the Judiciary Committee and on the Senate floor as part of the Texas firebrands strategy to use every procedural tool at the Senates disposal to override Obamas actions, which could affect nearly 5 million undocumented immigrants.
Disagreement with Cruzs latest tactic was voiced by Republicans who both support and oppose Lynchs nomination to succeed Attorney General Eric Holder, and came despite the fact that other ways of expressing GOP opposition to the immigration moves have hit roadblocks.
Republicans have been complaining about Eric Holder for a long time; this is an opportunity to make that change, said Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), who plans to vote for Lynch. I dont think we should delay it at all. I think we ought to get her over there and get her working.
Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, Cruzs home-state colleague, announced Wednesday that hell oppose Lynchs nomination based on her testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee supporting Obamas sweeping immigration moves, as well as other Obama administration policies. But Lynch getting a vote should not hinge on Obamas executive actions, Cornyn said: I would not couple those two, personally.
And Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), asked about Cruzs effort, responded: Thats not my position. Flake has also said that he will support Lynch. The president ought to get his people as long as theres no disqualifying substance there, and I dont think there is with her.

Of course the dem operatives would, they are bought and paid for.
Someone remind me again why it was so imperative to vote for GOP candidates last NOV.
Who does that surprise?
because if you don’t _______________[fill in blank] will happen. What they did not tell you is that if you voted GOP, the GOP electees would help _______[fill in blank] to happen.
I am no longer associated with the GOP or republicans...I am done! !
The GOPe is a dead political party. Orin Hatch is Exhibit A.
‘Republicans have been complaining about Eric Holder for a long time; this is an opportunity to make that change,...
***
Someone please tell me how electing an even more entrenched communist with no respect for the rule of law would be an improvement over Holder.
So are the Republican operatives, My FRiend. So are the Republican operatives. Both have the same goal. They just differ on how to get there.
Republicans have been complaining about Eric Holder for a long time; this is an opportunity to make that change
Only a true politician would dare to pull off a line like that one.
Join the club.
Remember when Osama was in the senate, he sure had no problem filibustering / denying floor votes to Bush appointees like Alito.
The Republican Party is beyond weak. Even worse than Hatch or Flake —who at least are honest about stabbing conservatives in the back — a guy like Cornyn is the worst liar. He ensures her confirmation by allowing a floor vote then votes against her for the record. How many times must we see this bait and switch.
Pretty certain they are the same in most cases.
And Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), asked about Cruzs effort, responded: Thats not my position. Flake has also said that he will support Lynch. The president ought to get his people as long as theres no disqualifying substance there, and I dont think there is with her.
Senator Flake ... if her own 'contrary to law' testimony isn't, what on earth would be a "disqualifying substance" for you?!
This alone should make people finally quit being delusional by thinking that the destruction of America can be stopped by elections.
It can’t and won’t be stopped.
So instead of delusions of “hoping”, that another election will fix it, people need to be thinking about reality.
No one person can turn this nightmare around. The American people are going to have to pull their heads out of the sand and realize that all is about lost.
We may not have much longer to communicate. They are taking over the internet.
Never dreamed that we were so pliable.
And don’t ask me what I would do. I can’t do anything about it any more than Ted Cruz or Jeff Sessions. If they can’t do it, neither can I.
Does the flake, Flake realize that lynch was a sorority sister of Sharon holder and this is a move to prevent eric holder being prosecuted for crimes and treason?
“Someone remind me again why it was so imperative to vote for GOP candidates last NOV.”
Because Cruz wouldn’t even be allowed to speak on the Senate floor if Hairy Reed was still in charge.
This party is soooo stupid, and so infected with left-think. I don’t want any part of it. I was going to get more involved with my local chapter, but at this point, I don’t want to. What can I change anymore if the higher ups keep you down?
Truly, it is time for a new party.
Damn
For all those who voted for the lesser evil...
