Kids at Palatine day care center diagnosed with measles [5 babies, all too young for vaccine]

Five children at a KinderCare Learning Center in northwest suburban Palatine have been diagnosed with measles, Illinois and Cook County health officials announced Thursday.

Public health officials are investigating the cluster of measles cases at KinderCare Learning Center, 929 E. Palatine Road, according to a statement. Two of the cases have been confirmed with laboratory testing while the other three diagnoses are pending test results, according to a joint statement from health officials.

All five children are under the age of 1.

The announcement comes about a week after Cook County officials announced the state’s first confirmed case this year of the respiratory disease, traced to a suburban Cook County resident that officials would only identify as being older than 18.

Cook County officials say it’s not clear if the adult’s diagnosis is linked to the children at the day care or to the outbreak associated with Disneyland, which has grown to more than 100 cases, many of them in California.

By the way, your little graphic is nonsense. There have been deaths in the US from measles over the past 10 years

Not according to the CDC. Try facts. The last death was 2003. That's been posted on this thread with a link.

Keep your MSM fueled hysteria if you like but I prefer cold facts.

While we're at it I also prefer freedom. What vaccines any child gets should be up to the parents and their doctor. It shouldn't be any bureaucrats business. In case you haven't noticed our healthcare choices are being preempted by government and you're cheering them on.

Goodnight.

Oh, yes, I see that now. I thought we were talking about the US.

The CDC’s last reported measles death occurred in 2003, so we have had more than a decade without a single actual death from measles.

Those children in the undeveloped world die from rediculous diseases because they have little if any immune system, which takes actual nutrition to develop, but since they are deficient, their immune system doesn’t work properly. Then, when they are also simultaneously infected with some kind of parasitic disease such as malaria, diseases are very deadly to them that have little effect on any of us, because we don’t have diseases such as malaria weakening our bodies like they do, or lack effective nutrition. Health is part of it as well, vaccines need a healthy immune system in order to work so that they can properly stimulate it. That’s why a doctor says to get your shots rescheduled if you are sick at the time of the appointment, because having your immune system at peak performance makes the vaccine work most effectively.

FWIW, we really do not know beyond the accusations of some media nuts what brought the measles around. Having been sick with it in spite of a shot and boosters, I can tell you that it very well could have been someone who was asymptomatic acting as a carrier of the disease, or who figured that they were measles-free just because they either didn’t have symptoms or were immune. That’s a key fact and possibility that people forget. Immune individuals can be more dangerous than the obviously sick and symptomatic ones, because they walk around figuring that because they are immune, and because they aren’t having symptoms, that they are germ-free, when that is not the case. We really don’t know who gave the measles around, but the suspects range from anywhere to a vaccinated and/or previously exposed individual carrying the germs without outward symptoms to a unvaccinated child, we really don’t know which for sure, in spite of the media rants.

The last death was 2003.

Perhaps Dr. Schuchat misremembered.

National Vital Statistics Reports, see page 17

I only looked up one year. There are more. The most egregious number from that piece of propaganda you posted was the alleged number of deaths from the vaccine. The VAERS system that you hang your hat on is passive. That means anyone can report anything they want to report and no one follows up. For the most part it's pretty useless, especially for anyone that genuinely cares about the facts. Tell us again about how you prefer "cold facts."

Funny that you will run to a government agency that advocates for vaccines to make a point. Since you appear to respect Dr. Schuchat so much let's look at another of her quotes:

Looks like it isn't just the media hyping this outbreak....According to the CDC, 79 percent of the people who opted out of the measles vaccine in 2013 did so due to a lack of belief in vaccinations....The CDC estimates that the two-dose MMR series is 97 percent effective.

Damn the government for trying to keep people, especially young children, from getting the measles.

Trying to compare a vaccine (that has a long and indisputable record of saving lives and reducing misery) with government overreach in healthcare, or claiming the benefits of vaccines are an affront to freedom, is absurd. No one is forcing you to vaccinate. Unless you are in the military no one is going to try. It is a classic straw man. But what kind of parent would subject their child to needless suffering or risk death? Even if you choose to do so, your right to get sick ends where my right to remain healthy begins.

I doubt she was wrong. There's an asterisk after the number and at the end the asterisk says "Figure does not meet standards of reliability or precision"

Your hysteria is really amazing. Even if 2 people died from measles more people than that are killed crossing the road.

There's nothing quite like watching the MSM stampede sheep.

I doubt she was wrong. There's an asterisk after the number and at the end the asterisk says "Figure does not meet standards of reliability or precision"

There is no asterisk preceding the cause-of-death code on the measles line item. There were also deaths from measles in 2010.

If you care one whit about standards, you'd have never cited anything from the VAERS system or suggest that it provides accurate and reliable information rather than the propaganda it does. So much for your adherence to cold facts.

Contrary to what your agenda driven graphic said, people died from measles during some of those years, and their claim that 108 had died from the vaccine itself is total BS.

The MSM may be hyped up about this but so is the woman you readily quote at the CDC. So which is it? Is the CDC a reliable organization? They must be if you quote them to make your point. So when the CDC panics over the outbreaks, are they also being stampeded by the MSM?

Why would a parent not vaccinate their kids and subject them to the possibility of contracting a communicable disease needlessly? Do they like watching their kids suffer and flirt with death?

Even in terms of disease, 1 or 2 deaths is miniscule. Thousands die from just the flu and/or MRSAs each year. So for a disease, this is small. Having infections in the hundreds also proves by proportion that the vaccine actually works for those who have it, because that means that less than 1 percent of the population is getting infected with measles, or 99 percent aren’t.

Aren’t children protected somewhat by breast milk antibodies, or do those not show up for vaccines?

Dr Jack Newman has been researching that since the 80’s and they are finding amazing things.
