Number of Full-Time Jobs as Percent of Population Is Lowest It’s Ever Been

“The number of full-time jobs, and that’s what everybody wants, as a percent of the total population, is the lowest it’s ever been… The other thing that is very misleading about that number is the more people that drop out, the better the number gets. In the recession we lost 13 million jobs. Only 3 million have come back. You don’t see that in that number. “

Those 3 million that came back went to illegals and H1Bs.

Gallup says the unemployment figures are a big flat lie:

Everyone knows things are bad — the jobs go to foreigners, not Americans. The numbers are all fake. We’re in a Depression, but we’re supposed to act like we don’t notice.

I am one of them that finally just gave up. Over 55 and could only get temp positions.

I’m trying to hang in there for 16 more months, when I’ll be 62. I’ll take early SS, and my small pension, and work part time. My income will be close, and the BS will be out the door. Good luck to you.

I had no idea what a sound choice I was making seventeen years ago, when I started my own business.

At 61, I'm not in danger of being forced out of a long-term job, or being forced to accept low paying work that is beneath my hard earned worth as a person.

Shadow stats claims that in 1994 we stopped counting the discouraged worker. The result was about a 2 to 5% understatement on the number. The perversity of the new unemployment number is that the deception of the number widens as unemployment really takes steam. From 1994 until the end of the Bush era unemployment was relatively under control. But then it exploded from the end of the Bush years into Obama. From shadowstats you can see the pre-1994 method would actually show a slight increase in the unemployment numbers from the worst showing in Obama’s early years. The effect of the new method actually shows the number falling!

So while Bush benefited to the tune of 4 or 5% from the fake numbers, Obama is seeing a 10% plus gap between the real numbers and the reported ones. No wonder he won re-election.

The numbers are all fake. We’re in a Depression, but we’re supposed to act like we don’t notice.

Yeah, I was watching Fox Business channel this am, and Charlie Gasparino was adamant that anyone who says we are still in a recession is lying and they don't know what they are talking about.

This after the stat about 13 mil losing their jobs in 2008, but only 3 mil have gotten a job since. I believe that is 10 mil of people who haven't gotten back a job they lost. Not to mention all the full-timers who may have a job now, but it is part-time (just heard my friendly barista complaining about that, "I just want one full time job that pays me the same as my two part-time jobs").

I turned the t.v. off after Gasparino said that, as life is too short to listen to New York based people who really need to travel, by car, and visit the rest of the United States.

I agree. And the propaganda made it harder for Bush and easy for Obama.

I remember in 2006, everyone I knew had a job and was doing OK. And they said: "I have a job. I'm doing OK. My neighbor is doing OK. Even my lazy brother-in-law is doing OK. However, I see on the news that Bush is ruining the labor market and giving people McJobs. He has to be stopped! I'm voting for Nancy Pelosi and her friends."

And in 2012, it went like this: "I have a job but my wages are flat. My neighbor doesn't have a job --he's been out of work forever. My brother-in-law lives under a bridge. I just thank God that Obama is in charge, because the TV tells me it would be much worse with Republicans in the White House. I'm voting to give Barack a second term!"

Congrats keep up the good work!

Thanks. At this point, not having enough work is the least of my problems. I can hardly keep up sometimes, but I'd rather be harried and tired, than worried over whether some other man will allow me to work.
