No, you're not wearing rose-colored glasses. People are wearing a lot of red today, and they're posting #GoRedForWomen selfies.
It's the 12th annual National Wear Red Day, which takes place the first Friday in February to raise awareness for women's heart health. Since 1 in 3 women die of heart disease and stroke every year, the American Heart Association started the day to help spread the word that heart disease is 80 percent preventable.

If you don’t wear red today you hate women and want them to die.

... to raise awareness for women's heart health.
What about men's heart health? Do we just ignore them; let them drop dead?

We’ve worried about men’s heart health for the last 2 billion years. Now it’s the ladies’ turn.

I wear red most Friday’s but for a different reason. I work for the US Navy (civilian). Wearing red on Friday is a tribute to the military, honoring their sacrifice for our freedom.
The mission of RedShirtFridays.org is to show support for our servicemen and servicewomen. We are not a political organization. We do not care whether or not one supports or does not support our nations specific military missions. We care only about making our support of our servicemen and servicewomen known to our fellow Americans and the world. We are a silent majority that does not wish to remain silent anymore. We wish to let our servicemen and servicewomen know we support their sacrifice and that we will not forget them; we will do this by wearing red every Friday.

Is that why I’m wearing red? I thought it was “red shirt Friday” a way of showing support to our deployed military.
My bad.

Not fair. My doc says my next colonoscopy is in 2020. I want a disease I can celebrate every year.

“What about men’s heart health? Do we just ignore them”
All the attention on heart disease historically was on men. The medical studies were focused on men. It’s because women were ignored, that they came up with this day.

Well since we don’t have 1/3 of the population of women die every year I’m guessing they mean of those that do die in a year 1/3 die from heart disease or (not “and” that implies that it is both not one or the other) stroke.
I have always been of the opinion that Journalist should be required to take more journalist classes just so they will quit saying things they don’t mean.

Oh good, nothing red
Just kidding. I’m not sure what the gimmickry achieves. Old fashioned solicitation for a heart society is more informative.
