Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said Sunday the country had a "moral obligation" to claim reparations from Germany for the damages wrought by the Nazis during World War II.
Greece had "a moral obligation to our people, to history, to all European peoples who fought and gave their blood against Nazism," he said in a key address to parliament.

Liberalism really IS a mental disorder.
Angela Merkel and the Germans will love this strategy NOT! They really, really hate anyone mentioning the bad old days of WW II.
They should seek repayment of what is widely accepted today as ridiculous reparations forced on the German people for WWI. When they get that money, they can give some to Greece.
Curious that greece isn’t chasing down Italy for this money. Oh, never mind; they don’t have deep pockets.
Germany has known for over a century that the future of the Balkans is Turkey, not Greece.
The use of ‘guilt’ to extract alms is very effective. (see slavery) Good thing liberals don’t believe in Christian forgiveness.
How do you say “bull$h!t” in Greek?
The dead Germans should pay reparations to the dead Greeks.
It is a basic fact that war is a negative-sum game. It is almost impossible to restore the damage without punishing people who had little or nothing to do with it.
This is just a way for Greece to deflect the responsibility for their problems onto someone else. If they were to get reparations, they would spend them in a year on partying, and then would be as bad off as even.
This is a great idea!
And, right after that, Greece should get reparations from Turkey for blowing up the Parthenon.
The German Nazi government actually had the surrendering Greek government make them a massive loan that was never repaid. I know, ancient history. But remember, other debts incurred during wartime by various countries have been honored.
Run your country into the damn ground and then blame someone else. BHO tactics right there.
No one, least of all Tsipras, expects Germany to just say “So sorry” and write a big check. I think he’s deliberately making negotiations impossible to allow him to take Greece out of the euro and blame the Germans.
What more do they want. Germany has already been subsidizing these lazy cretins for decades.
Greece’s goose has been cooked and it will never achieve first class nation status and neither will we as long as other people’s money is spent on the loafers.
Is that the Cretins in Sparta or the Spartans in Crete?
Both actually.
the Brits blew up the Parthenon. They shelled it when the Turks were storing ammo in it.
Great. Sue them both.
