I would suggest that anyone who is worried about adequate air support take a look at the many pictures of Kobane now available. You can see the effects of US based air support - where a single ISIS fighting position "attracted" 500 lbs of laser guided high explosives.
Now that our technology allows precision delivery of large bombs - at the level of hitting a vehicle or a specific part of a building - it should be possible to decimate any concentrated ISIS forces.

I fear he would do this, too. I think it's entirely possible that they're trying to keep this story under wraps. For all we know, it's been a full blown battle going on for days before we even got a wiff of it. That could be why he's asking for ground troops now, but as usual, too little too late. I had no idea that our Marines had an SOP in place on how, when or why to: ‘Destroy Personal Weapons’ in accordance with the ‘rules’. (Damn, I hope to heck I read or heard or just completely screwed up my understanding of that story from last night.) Any FReeper Marines ever heard of that SOP?
