Even now, I wonder what I might have accomplished if I'd studied harder.
This regretful remark, delivered to Eureka College's graduating class of 1982, inspired uproarious laughter from the audience. Why? Because it came from a sitting president of the United States. Ronald Reagan, despite his admittedly mediocre grades, had already made it just about as far as anyone can.
Ideally, college study helps to form the whole person. But to some extent, and for most Americans, it is viewed as a means to an enda preparation for later accomplishments in life.
Today, there still exists a very small, elite world in which school ties can pull big strings. Outside of that world, neither grades, nor school pedigree, nor even possession of a finished degree matter very much. Those who have already entered the professional world and shown themselves capable of handling its rigors are seldom asked about their education when applying for the second, third or fourth jobs of their career.
Even so, the concerns of that elite have suddenly been aroused because one of the leading Republican contenders for presidentGov. Scott Walker of Wisconsinquit school without finishing his bachelor's degree. Walker quit college in good standing, but 34 credits shy of graduation......
....Walker has proven he is competent in the same way most Americans mustwith or without degrees based on his actual career accomplishments. He spent a decade as an obscure state legislator, was elected Milwaukee County executive, and is now the thrice-elected governor of a large state not known for easily favoring conservative Republicans. Love or hate what he has done in office, he is probably the nation's most accomplished sitting governor. Does anybody really think that an extra few semesters in college over 20 years ago represents the difference as to whether he is or isn't qualified to be president?.....

What is amazing is that all those libtards that run their mouths have no problem with their own ilk. Clintons, Obama neither one has produced their college records to the public or media. It is always the Republicans that have to show where and when they went to college or anything else thy do. Nothing but hypocrites!
George Washington didn’t have any kind of a degree. I’m not sure he even got out of grade school. But he did do a slightly better than average job, all things considered.
One or both of the Clintons have had their law licenses pulled.
As for the Marxist, all of his records are sealed, including his birth certificate!
College-educated pols gave us the cesspool of an economy and popular culture we have now. If we want to get out of the manure pile we are in now, I would be willing to try someone that the “educated” moron Howard Dean considers “uneducated”. It would be tough to do worse than the blockhead “scholar” Obama that we have now.
He went to work. They HATE that!
Outside of math and science, all you need to do for a degree is repeat back the progressive line to your lefty professors and you’ll graduate with honors!
what a patently elitist thing to say ....I can point to several million tradesman who skipped college and crafted careers, and rebuilt post war communities
“Must be a generational thing or a commentary on the state of higher education in general these days.”
Back then it was Math, Science, History, English, Literature and Pre-Med, Pre-Law.
Today it’s Womyn’s studies, Black studies, American Revisionism and Barista Management.
And we wonder why the younger generation of LIV are idiots.
College Degrees in Gerbilizm, trans-gender studies, political “science”, etc. are worse than useless.
This is a crap argument/discussion. There is no education requirement for the office; not for a college degree, not for high school diploma. The fascists want this to become a heated argument. Blow them off and remind them again that their whining about degrees is elitist. Slam them with that and show them your back; they will move on to the next attack.
Although I find Gov. Walker’s non-graduation refreshing -
has he been in government all his career?
They must realize that he can win the election.
I don’t care about degrees. I do care about a president who openly welcomes people who have professed their hate for us.
Limbaugh’s reaction is awesome. Rush said that Walker should claim that he didn’t want to go to college so as not to be accused of rape.
He should finish up his missing 34 credits by attending online classes at Hillsdale College and then advertise the fact over and over to the media.
Given that nearly all colleges are breeding grounds of socialism and feminism, one could view the lack of a degree as a positive. One could also view it as meaningless either way. At the end of the day it’s a piece of paper. He’s succeeded without it, proving he didn’t need it.
That is a fabulous idea.
Imagine the campaign stories he could tell about sitting through American Government 300 & 400, Organized Crime in Present Day Unions 275, Astroturf Efforts by the Radical Left 460, The Novels of Tom Wolf 350...oh and Balanced Budget Essentials 101.
Yikes!
; )
Yes. Republicans need to laugh at the humorless Left, not imitate them.
