Remember him well. RIP.
Stan Chambers was an icon at KTLA channel 5, I grew up listening to him.
RIP Stan.
I remember him as I have not watched the local news in so long that I think of him still there reporting.
Whoa! 11 children!
When I moved to the Southland, in 1981, I was not impressed with what passed for news, on TV. I liked Jess Marlowe, and I was immediately drawn to Mr. Chambers. If I closed my eyes, I could easily imagine that he was a neighbor, on the front porch, filling me in, on the big story.
Very nice picture - thanks!
Yeah I just hear on KFI Radio news
For freepers who don’t know this guy is legend here in SO CAL
Well said...He was a great reporter and person from the time he started at KTLA.
When I moved to the Southland, in 1981
1976 for me.
Bump, and RIP to a decent guy.
I met the man. He had 13 kids. He was the first reporter to report TV news in a helicopter back in the late 40’s. He was the first to report live TV news outside of the television studios. I could go on and on. I remember when he was in his late seventies he was reporting live on a huge fire that was moving towards him. The anchor in the studio told him “Be careful Stan, that fire is coming right at you.” He said, cooly, “ reporting live from the Malibu fire, this is Stan Chambers.” What a great man. RIP Stan. Sympathy to Stan Jr and all 13 of his kids.
KTLA was first station that west of Mississpi now known as CW station I remember Movies at Dawn

News people are dropping like flies!
I knew, or met with Stan, any number of times both at home and work. He is a lot nicer than you would think, and most think he is a nice guy. He was better than that. Great family guy, great family.
There is a book out there about his 60 years at KTLA.
I remember one time he almost caught up in wildfire in 1980s when it waa one Malibu fire that broke up in the 1980s during hot summer months
I yelling at the TV RUN Stan RUN LOL!
I remember him...RIP
Thanks for the replies, and fond remembrances of a wonderful, unassuming man.
I remember Stan Chambers. Along with Hal Fischman, KTLA had a good news staff. RIP.
The articles say Stan worked for KTLA for 63 years. So anyone who saw him growing up, it doesn't really date them!
