These men came home from the war to build our great nation.
There are more members of my family which served in WWII, distant cousins, etc.
I thank and honor all of them, they are all gone now.
"I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense." |
Well, here we are again in the middle of a blizzard, wind is blowing the falling snow around wildly, the temp is down to 8F, just miserable outside.
Thanks and AMEN.

Cue the Rockumentary theme!
They had spent years in the Los Angeles studio scene, backing other bands, and they hit it big in the late Seventies. After disappointing sales of another disk, they reinvented themselves and became one of the dominant acts of the Eighties.
Irish rock has a sound of its own, and this one is infectious. I like the opening violin quote from Thomas Moore. This is one of those new sounds that might have been overlooked had it not been for MTV. This is the completely restored video.
I remember that violin opening as an anniversary song.
But the rest of it i have never heard before.
I was in a whole different world during the 80s! ;-)
“Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms” by Thomas Moore, a close friend of Lord Byron.
That’s the one! LOL!
Hot Country was making heavy inroads into pop.
In Virgil Thompson’s opera about Byron, Moore makes an appearance singing an aria to that tune that he wrote. It’s clever on Thompson’s part.
