NYT: Correction on Gail Collin's "Walker Needs an Eraser" hit piece
New York Times ^ | February 15, 2015 | Gail Collins

Posted on 02/15/2015 11:53:44 PM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Correction: February 15, 2015

An earlier version of this column incorrectly stated that teacher layoffs in Milwaukee in 2010 happened because Gov. Scott Walker “cut state aid to education.” The layoffs were made by the city’s school system because of a budget shortfall, before Mr. Walker took office in 2011.

Members of the media and the political class - - elites - - must maintain the veneer and false narrative that they're know so much more than those they "inform and govern."

Climate change social engineers vs anti-science denier contrarians is a good example of this.

Howard Dean's rant about Gov. Scott Walker's lack of a college diploma nicely illustrates this divide and disconnect.

They want to shut down and criminalize debate on "settled" science.

I guess that high priced education she got at Marquette University didn’t teach her how to read anything but attack memos from the DNC.

"On Joe Scarborough’s MSNBC show this past week Yale-educated Howard Dean added a new word to the lexicon of Democratic condescension, “unknowledgeable.”

“Scott Walker, were he to become president, would be the first president in many generations that did not have a college degree,” said Dean of the Wisconsin governor. “And that's a problem.” Scarborough countered later in the conversation, “Well, nobody is accusing Scott Walker of being dumb because he didn't graduate from college except you.”

“I didn't say dumb,” Dean clarified. “I said unknowledgeable.”

Despite their self-designation as the party of the people, the Democrats will reinforce this “unknowledgeable” theme at every opportunity. Through their control of the media, they have been rigging political IQ tests for the last half-century, if not longer.

Those Republicans who were not evil geniuses -- Nixon, Gingrich, Cheney, Rove -- the media have painted as blithering idiots. Dwight Eisenhower was doddering and incoherent. Gerald Ford, perhaps the best athlete to occupy the White House, was a bumbling fool.

“I wanted [Jimmy] Carter in and I wanted [Ford] out,” comedian Chevy Chase would later admit of his mocking Ford impersonation on "Saturday Night Live", “and I figured look, we're reaching millions of people every weekend, why not do it."

Ronald Reagan, in the memorable words of Clark Clifford, was an “amiable dunce.” The senior George Bush was so out of touch he was ambushed by a grocery scanner. Dan Quayle could not spell “potato.” George W. Bush inspired the popular bumper sticker, “A village in Texas is missing its idiot.” And Sarah Palin was the yokel who could allegedly “see Russia from my house.” .....

As if Collin didn’t know exactly how the layoffs happened when she wrote the hit piece. LOL.

She’s either criminally dishonest, or criminally incapable of researching a story. And I find it very hard to believe that someone who’s been in the game as long as she has would make such a rookie error. So...

Then again, Gail Collin’s “master’s degree in government from the University of Massachusetts” certainly contributed to her “education!”

http://www.nytimes.com/column/gail-collins

“She is a graduate of Marquette University, and has a master’s degree in government from the University of Massachusetts. Since 2013, Ms. Collins has been a member of the Pulitzer Prize Board. Her columns appear every Thursday and Saturday and The Conversation, her weekly discussion with David Brooks, appears every Wednesday.”

Did .@EricBoehlert go to college? If so, was he conscious while he was there? -- "Eric Boehlert is a partisan hack at the shamelessly partisan but amazingly tax-exempt Media Matters for America. Boehlert is basically the butt-remora with a room temperature IQ that you find on the leftward fringe of Democrat politics. Back in 2008, he (I am not making this up) predicted the demise of FoxNews and ” watching CNN capture the campaign ratings crown.” He called US Navy SEALs “gutless” because they talked to the makers of a 2012 documentary on how Obama was endangering their lives by using classified information for his personal political gain......................."

The Credentialization of the Republic ............... HUGH HEWITT: All right, so Mark Steyn, how well-educated is this guy? Was that question really asked and answered when President Obama was running?

MARK STEYN: Well, it is interesting, isn't it? President Obama had a million dollars of elite education – Occidental, Columbia, and what was the other one, Yale or Harvard? I can't remember now.

HH: Harvard Law.

MS: And we don't know a thing about it. We don't know what he did there. Howard Dean, who I find, I don't particularly dislike Howard Dean, but I do remember when he ran for president, he cited as his foreign policy experience the fact that he used to take his children from their Vermont school to play soccer across the border in Beaconsfield, Quebec. And that was his evidence of his foreign policy experience. Now he says that we, it would be astonishing to have a president without a college education. I actually mention this in my book, After America. William McKinley had one term of college. Grover Cleveland left college. Van Buren left school at 14. Lincoln only had 18 months of formal education. And Zachary Taylor never went to school at all. Truman didn't have a degree. That's what, two, three generations ago? And Ronald Reagan, which is one generation ago, went to Eureka College, Illinois, which is the sort of school that Obama and Howard Dean would sneer at. And for the last quarter century, this country has not had a two-party system. It's basically had a two-school system – Yale for Bush, Sr., Yale Law for Clinton, Harvard Business for Bush, Jr., and Harvard Law for Obama. And I don't think that's the American way... I was always told as the subject of a tyrannical monarchy was that the difference was that in your country, Hugh, anyone could grow up to be president. And if we want to restrict it in the way that Howard Dean is proposing to restrict it to this Ivy League technocracy, that's actually driven America over the cliff - because the smartest thing you can know is to know enough to know what you don't know. And that's what Howard Dean and Obama and all the rest of the guys never want to acknowledge...................................

[SNIP]

SCOTT WALKER WISCONSIN BEER CHEESE SOUP

“What You’ll Need:

• 3/4 cup butter
• 1/2 cup diced celery
• 1/2 cup diced carrots
• 1/2 cup diced onion
• 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon dry ground mustard
• 1 (14.5 ounce) can chicken broth
• 5 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
• 5 ounces shredded monterey jack cheese
• 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese (it’s a lot of cheese, but this is Wisconsin!)
• 1 (12 ounce) can or bottle of beer — preferably Wisconsin beer such as Spotted Cow
• Milk to taste
• Salt and pepper to taste

Part One: Governor of Wisconsin

• In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
• Cook celery, carrots, and onion until onion is translucent.

• Stir in flour and mustard until vegetables are coated, like the union thugs were coated in failure.

Part Two: Still Governor

• Add chicken broth and simmer until slightly thickened.
• Puree mixture (you can use a blender or an immersion blender).
• Yes, things are getting rough, but this soup is going to come out delicious, just as Walker emerged victorious.

Part Three: The Run for the Nomination

• Reheat pureed mixture.
• Slowly stir in cheeses and beer. Alternate all of them, and only add a little at a time.

• Stir until cheese is melted and beer is fully incorporated, as Walker’s name recognition will permeate the nation.
• If it’s still a little thick for your taste, add some milk, but do you want your candidate watered down?
• Add salt and pepper to taste.

Some say a hearty soup like this is a main dish, while others think it’s the VP of dinner, merely a pleasant sidekick. What do you think? Could Walker be the main dish for a hungry nation?”

That looks pretty good! I just happen to have all that stuff including the celery which is not usually in my fridge. I’ll have to use a dark ale instead of beer though but that might be a good departure from the recipe.

3:08 video that shows why the Left hates Scott Walker.

Governor Scott Walker Reflects on Reagan's "A Time for Choosing" Speech

He admires Ronald Reagan and says there is an academic and media bias against conservatism.

Bart Simpson: When I grow up, I wanna be a lawyer just like you, Mr. Hutz.

Lionel Hutz: Good for you, son. If there’s one thing this world needs, it’s more lawyers. Could you imagine a world without lawyers?
