The boyfriend of slain American Kayla Mueller nearly saved her life from ISIS — but she foiled her own rescue by failing to lie to the killer terrorists.
The Arizona woman’s boyfriend, Syrian photographer Omar Alkhani, said he had pledged to risk his life to save her.
Alkhani explained a plan in which, if she were ever taken by ISIS, he would claim to be her Muslim husband and she would be freed, because ISIS will not hold a Muslim man’s wife hostage, according to the Mail on Sunday.

It appears he did have a plan, but the girl chickened out and blew it!
The emergence of the Muslim “boyfriend” certainly adds a curious element to the story. As I heard it, he was either captured (and released) at the same time she was taken hostage, or he traveled into Syria to secure her release and those efforts were unsuccessful.
I’d say Ms. Mueller’s fate was sealed the moment they learned she was an American. But given ISIS’s seventh-century theology, you’d think they’d brand him an apostate for being with an infidel. Yet, he’s alive and well while his girlfriend is dead at the hands of his fellow Muslims.
There is also information linking Ms. Mueller with some radical Palestinian groups, but apparently that didn’t impress ISIS. Others have suggested her “boyfriend” sold her out to the terrorists, though her family has rejected those accusations.
As with any other story of this type, the facts don’t matter, just the narrative.
Addendum to my last: and here’s the most-overlooked fact of all: it was reported last week that the U.S. had good intel on the location of most (if not all) of the western hostages being held by ISIS in June, 2014. JSOC was ready to go, but the White House demanded more intelligence. By the time that data was gathered, the hostages had been relocated and the rescue window was closed.

Sorry, “boyfriend”, your “girlfriend” was given to a Muslim terrorist as a slave/bride a long time ago.

She either was stupid or was unwilling to leave her captors, the Stockholm thing.

Risk his life? As in, short of giving his life he would merely risk his life for her?...Hell, some guys risk their lives just by living with their girlfriends.
Sorry, but I’m out of sympathy for foolish suburban kids who won’t read the tea leaves (or the news) and willingly go to the most dangerous places on earth. They, in their narcissism, somehow they will be able to aid the doomed, and instead they just feed the collective murderous rage. I don’t think one special forces soldier should be expended in an effort to rescue them. As far as I’m concerned, this was nothing but a slow suicide. Funny how you don’t see farm kids from Texas or Nebraska volunteering. By glorifying these victims we only encourage more foolish volunteers.

There are times when one not only should but MUST lie.
Having a Christian or Jewish wife is acceptable in the Koran; in the Middle East, they even see seducing and marrying such girls as “love Jihad” because it makes their children Muslim by law and subverts the demographic potential of the non-Muslim population by taking away their future (young women).
