Well Ayaan Hirsi Ali certainly has done that. I don’t know about the other women in the video other than the one that states she is a Muslim and loves her faith. While I agree that Islam is never going to be the proper environment to foster any kind of advancement, I do respect these women for having the courage to speak out.

I certainly share some of your cynicism, but I see complaints all the time on FR and elsewhere that Muslims aren’t speaking out. Here we have women that do not have much support in these cultures at all, to say the least, even the ones living in the West, and we have to be snarky about them trying to make a difference in a male-dominated, horrfically violent culture? I hope they don’t turn into Western-type feminists, but I can support them for some basic human rights and dignity and life even though I come from a different mindset and part of the world. And so far, I don’t see the Sandra Flukes of the world tackling these real problems that are facing women in these backward cultures. And to be honest, I hope they don’t. Their mindset needs to be stomped out as fervently as the Islamic mindset.
I don’t understand what keeps women Moslem if they have some awareness that there is something different and any way to get away from it. There are no real women in Islamic Paradise, only soulless houris. Women go to hell or to extinction because they are not really even human. They are no more than breeding stock. If your religion teaches that there is no future after this life then why continue to act as if there is?

I agree but is it simply going to make Islam more palatable for the masses. Regardless, once they have the majority the rules will be put back.
These women recognize that they are mistreated and abused. Now they need to acknowledge that islam condones and encourages the abusive treatment. Next, they need to get safely away from the savage male muslims that are abusing them. Then they need to fully reject islam. Muslim women will never have a chance to be free and safe until they take these actions.
Arthurus, it doesn’t make sense when you look at things logically, but humans are not logical. People get trapped in mindsets because that is all they have known. It takes courage to make change, even small changes. I know this from my own experience. If you are not trapped by your physical circumstances, you can be just as trapped in your mind. I’ve seen it with men and women born in the United States not even of the Muslim culture. So what’s it like to be one woman that has been told her whole life that her life means nothing? A woman who often doesn’t even have her own female family members that will support her. It takes a tremendous amount of courage. That’s why I commend these women, even the ones that are living in relative safety here in the U.S. or other Western societies, that do speak out. I also commend people like Brigette Gabriel and Pamela Geller who are not Muslims that put their necks on the line.
I watched the video. Its a barbaric religion which perpetuates a barbaric culture. For every 1 woman who speaks out there are 20 women ready to kill her.
I totally get it and agree and probably a 100 years could go by and no real change, but I still have admiration for people that are trying to make a difference even if it is just in themselves or their own little sphere of the world. It’s just like all uphill battles like the fight against left in our own country and all the problems that they have caused. But still, people have to go on living and trying to make things better.

If you wallow in crap, don’t complain about being dirty — get the hell out of the manure and leave it behind you, permanently.
I very much doubt that these women have any common sense at all.
Besides, they complain about how the women are being treated in Islam but totally ignore the ghastly atrocities committed by Islam now and in the past 1500 years. These women are totally blind and want to remain so.
Sorry, no sympathy here.
