Texas Attorney General: Same-sex Marriage is Void

AUSTIN — Hours after a Texas county clerk issued the state's first same-sex marriage license, Texas' attorney general said the marriage is void.

Attorney General Ken Paxton said Thursday that the Texas Supreme Court granted his request to stay two court rulings declaring Texas' ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional.

"The Court's action upholds our state constitution and stays these rulings by activist judges in Travis County," Paxton said in a statement. "The same-sex marriage license issued by the Travis County Clerk is void, just as any license issued in violation of state law would be. I will continue to defend the will of the people of Texas, who have defined marriage as between one man and one woman, against any judicial activism or overreach."

According to the Travis County clerk's office, Judge David Wahlberg signed a state court order Thursday, commanding Travis County Clerk Dana Debeauvoir to "cease and desist relying on the unconstitutional Texas prohibitions against same-sex marriage as a basis for not issuing a marriage license specifically to Plaintiffs Sarah Goodfriend and Suzanne Bryant" because Goodfriend has ovarian cancer.

The Dems charged Perry, let this AG charge this unlawful judge. Fight fire with fire.

Texas officials need to declare all federal laws, rules and regulations null and void and dare the Muslim-Marxist to fire bomb Austin to the ground.

Bump.

This thread should be in ‘breaking news’ in my opinion. Just a suggestion.

florida needs to go the same route.

we had a state Constitutional Amendment passed and ratified ... then overruled by a federal judge.

where’d the fed get the right to overrule a state’s Constitution?

They need to be "blue ticketed".

FYI, In the "old days" in Alaska, undesirables were given a blue ticket to Seattle. A blue ticket was a one-way ticket. When the local cops gave you a "blue ticket", you were made to understand that it was TRULY one way.

I don't know what would have happened if you came back because I can't remember anyone ever coming back....

I’d like to see Texas kick Austin out of the state and move the capital back to Bastrop.

All the woman with cancer has to do is give all of her worldly goods to her lover before she dies.

But there would be tax implications.

That is the argument they are making.

Will there not be inheritance taxes?

I believe I can sell my house to my friend for a buck if I want to. I can sell my car for a buck. I can give my cash to anyone I want. But if ownership is passed through a will then there are taxes.

Same-sex marriage is an attempt to re-engineer society. It is not possible, never was possible, and never will work. Physically, it is not possible.

So it's on to an Obola appointee in the Federal courts.

And hopefully Texas will rightfully opt to not recognize any such faux authority...

Run a search on “Civil War” + 1861 for another answer.

“I believe I can sell my house to my friend for a buck if I want to. I can sell my car for a buck.”

Not in most places. In many, the friend will be assessed “gift taxes” on the appraised value of the house, etc. Taxing entities are very suspicious of such gifts.

Solution: Change tax law, NOT society.

That’s an old trick that is illegal and will get you accommodations where you will not have to make a mortgage payment for 10 to 15 years.
