Today, a chunk of staffers from the Tea Party News Network, a news site with nearly 12 million unique visitors per month, sent in their resignations over the companys despicable practices.
The resignation came soon after the publication of a Daily Beast exposé about the news outlet, which has seen incredible traffic numbers coupled with what its readers perceive as a decline in the quality of content, sometimes with little connection to tea party issues. (One recent headline: Big Strutting Peacock Picks A Fight With The Wrong Guy.)
The exposé also shone light on some of their business practices, such as the fact that the Tea Party News Networks Facebook page regularly posted content from different websites, such as Fights.buzz, which shows street altercations of the type that are banned from YouTube. The sites are all owned by TPNNs owner, Todd Cefaratti, and are all for-profit, while TPNN itself is a non-profit site.
This is a problem for the staff, some of whom sent a resignation letter to brass indicating this was the final straw. Unfortunately the coalition of companies and groups you collectively run has not been operating with the honor that people should be able to respect.

Bottom line is Brian Williams is not hig up enough/not important enough to have people put their credibility at risk defending him.
He’s not a guy near and dear to anyone’s cause. He’s a pretty face reading other people’s words.
I can’t stand click-bait sites.
Ain’t that the truth? Ted Cruz is the only person I care about. Donations will only go to him.
So it took an expose for the staff to quit?
“The Tea Party, IMHO, has always been a commitment to Liberty without requiring any sort of leadership...”
A free man requires no “leader.”
Similar to Westboro "Baptist" Church.
Anybody can be a Tea Party. Anybody can be a Baptist Church.
Four or five years ago, there sure were a lot of slimy hucksters who jumped to the head of the Tea Party parade. I still get junk emails from these people.
you can TRY to trademark ANY phrase. Whether you are successful is another matter.

If you couldn’t then every studio could release a movie title The Tea Party at the same time.
I believe Tea Party would still be as effective as it was in the beginning if it remained an ideal. It is much easier for the established parties to destroy political enemies than it is to destroy thoughts.
I remain convinced conservatives would see better results if we work beneath the surface. We do not need to be a group with a label. We don't need anyone speaking for us on a national platform. We need to communicate and work on a local level. We all need to battle from the bottom up.
The GOP & Dems have the money, but we have our voices and our votes. If we can get our message out at home, we will see change.
So, what we learn is that nonsense pays the bills in todays America. Titillation, deception, misdirection, “weird tricks” magic. They wouldn’t do it if it didn’t work.
Our culture is a pathetic bag of wall-to-wall selfishness, greed and vanity.
So did I. It seemed these guys were trying to give the real Tea Party a bad reputation, make it out to be something it isn’t.
“you can TRY to trademark ANY phrase. Whether you are successful is another matter.”
Copyright was the term the other poster used, not trademark. There is a difference.
>>TPNNs owner
The Tea Party doesn’t have an OWNER - that’s sort of the whole POINT.
>>Our culture is a pathetic bag of wall-to-wall selfishness, greed and vanity.
Yeah but, who’s winning American Idolatry and Dancing with the Perverts in between commercials for Viagra, Sleeping pills, and Depends this week?
Is there a good site where you can find actual news about the Tea Party?
How many “conservative sites” are actually fronts for the NSA? Just wondering.
I wish I knew.
Never heard of TPNN before today. I always come here right after Drudge. Then I hit Red State, Free Bacon, and Faceplant.
How do you copyright a phrase? It’s not a book or a song.
TEA Party would be a trademark, not a copyright.
