Ignoring that W’s taking out Saddam created the necessary vacuum renders the article pointless.

If Saddam was still there, ISIS would not exist.

And that’s very Naive thinking. If that were true, why did ISIS gain power through arms from Libya and in Northern Syria? Why is it Assad had them contained until the US intervened in Syria and they became strong? Neither Bush nor Iraq was involved until Obama set this one in motion .

Thanks for playing, better luck next time

Like to see more than your opinion on that. Can you cite any facts to back up that supposition?

The article deals with the bigger picture, which is the various strategies for trying to deal with societies bent on killing anybody who’s not one of them. You can have a tyrant do the killing, to hold everybody in line, or you can have the jihadists...

What’s not being said is that the reason this is all necessary is because Islam is violent. Wherever there are large numbers of Muslims this becomes the dilemma, because Islam insists that when Muslims are the majority, they must push for sharia (which is the execution of anybody who is not one of them). Islam is a political ideology, and wherever there are substantial numbers of Muslims there will be the push for sharia, which has to be met with an equal and opposite reaction - which means tyranny.

The only way this would ever be stopped would be to keep Muslims as a tiny fraction of the population wherever they are. If they are ever allowed to breed their way into a significant population concentration, they will become hell-bent on killing everybody else; that is the ideology of Islam. It’s like poison; the only way it’s safe is if it is diluted.

Keep the crazy enemy you know to stop new crazies from other countries from starting up? My goal would be to greatly arm Israel (a friend) to keep that whole area sane.

Saddam should have been eliminated years earlier. The war was completely justifiable.

Not true- ISIS was al Qaeda in Iraq, al Qaeda in Iraq was formed of Zarqawi’s group and Saddam’s red-headed General al Dhouri. His preferred base of operations is Mosul.

Not true- ISIS was al Qaeda in Iraq, al Qaeda in Iraq was formed of Zarqawi’s group and Saddam’s red-headed General al Dhouri. His preferred base of operations is Mosul and he knows how to stay in the background. As Baath Party head he also still has much of the regime’s financial resources. Last time I checked nothing much has ever been done to al Taqwa, which was where both al Qaeda and Saddam laundered money, protected by Swiss secrecy and banking law.

Note that we have yet to capture al Dhouri, whose name, like that of the current head of al Qaeda Zawahiri, is never uttered by Obama.

Note that we also have yet to pry ISIS from Mosul- or al Muthanna the regime’s old chem weapons facility, though our regime promises to get around to it in April or May.

Or if our troops are there, the vacuum doesn’t exist hence the ridiculous withdrawal of our troops. This whole plan was probably hatched 8 years ago. Bush was the useful idiot.
