Who was it who said the closest thing to eternal life is a government program?

If the true “BLACK HISTORY” were ever taught in our schools, there wouldn’t be any BLACK democrat. But, like everything else, our history is being re-written every day of the week, including “BLACK HISTORY”.

I’m with CL Bryant on this one.

Attacking black history month directly is a route to sure fire failure. Instead we should use it as an opportunity to educate about true American heroes like James Armistead and Salem Poor. He also suggests that whites should seize our rightful place in black history with guys like George Whitefield and Calvin Coolidge. Eventually the black will fade and we can morph it into American History month.

Black History Month
Gay Pride Month
Women’s History Month
Latino History Month
Pacific Islander Month

So much ‘diversity’. So much liberal special interests promotion.

It’s White Guilt Month and it just drags up past injustices and gives them as an excuse for the self-inflicted pathologies.

It’s really Black History MONTHS. January and February. Stories about African Americans bombard the TV airwaves 24-7.

Add this to Black History Month:
330,000 WHITE UNION military knowingly left their families and went to their DEATHS during the Civil War; they gave up their lives to free the BLACK AMERICAN SLAVES, they FOLLOWED the directives and emancipation orders of their government, a government THEY ELECTED. I have never heard a Progressive African-American, or a White Progressive, ever ACKNOWLEDGE, much less “thank” these men for their sacrifices, nor do they recognize the 260,000 White Union military who were wounded and/or grievously disabled; nor the widows; nor the children; nor the families of the military who also suffered TO FREE THE BLACK SLAVES.

it has morphed into “Black Preference and Pandering Month” and we have 12 of them every year.

It’s been subverted by “Black thugs who are history” news flashes.

Surprisingly, I haven’t even heard or seen anything about BHM this year. I totally forgot that it was BHM.

Frederick Douglass complains in his autobiography of not knowing when his birthday was. It’s now listed as February 17 but I think what he did was arbitrarily pick a date, and picked the day halfway between Lincoln’s birthday and Washington’s birthday.

The establishment of a Black History MONTH was idiotic and should be an embarrassment to American Negroes who possess functioning brains .

History should be taught chronologically from facts of significant events and significant people. Not to scrounge up data on anything you possibly can about a certain race thereby disrupting chronology.

George Washington Carver did something worthwhile by his scientific work elevating the peanut to something that practically everyone eats and that has a multitude of uses. Many owe their livelihood to growing them. Just ask Jimmy Carter.

All that Black History accomplishes is to relegate real history to the paper basket while students bask in the glow of Quanzaa, a holiday created as a joke by a negro prison inmate.

Further, Black History has become, in many institutions, a major for negroes to hide in. The problem is that the only jobs requiring 'Black' Studies is teaching others about Black Studies.

if blacks are ever going to be integrated into American culture

It seems to me blacks WERE pretty much "integrated into American culture" prior to 2009.

I think we really already scrapped BHM. I seem to say this every year, but it remains true every year, but the only thing I see mentioning BHM anymore is people complaining abut BHM. Everybody except the people that don’t like it seem to have moved on from it.
