Obama "Very Interested" In Raising Taxes Through Executive Action (Who Can Stop Him?)

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed Monday that President Obama is "very interested" in the idea of raising taxes through unitlateral executive action.

"The president certainly has not indicated any reticence in using his executive authority to try and advance an agenda that benefits middle class Americans," Earnest said in response to a question about Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) calling on Obama to raise more than $100 billion in taxes through IRS executive action.

"Now I don't want to leave you with the impression that there is some imminent announcement, there is not, at least that I know of," Earnest continued. "But the president has asked his team to examine the array of executive authorities that are available to him to try to make progress on his goals. So I am not in a position to talk in any detail at this point, but the president is very interested in this avenue generally," Earnest finished.

Sanders sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Jack Lew Friday identifying a number of executive actions he believes the IRS could take, without any input from Congress, that would close loopholes currently used by corporations. In the past, IRS lawyers have been hesitant to use executive actions to raise significant amounts of revenue, but that same calculation has change in other federal

If Boehner uses Democrats to pass DHS funding, the Republicans and Democrats are one party and no one is left to stop Obama. All hail the new King!

My ideal candidate for 2016 would say “I plan to go through the IRS like the Russians in Berlin.”

I still have some expectation that Hillary and Jeb will be on one ticket as the new National Unity Party. They can sell the idea as something "the American people want" in order to end the divisive, broken system in Washington.

Then Bernie Sanders can run as the Dem nominee (and get 10% of the vote).
And they can game the system and get Rand Paul as the Republican nominee (he'll get 10% of the vote).

And the hugely popular National Unity Party will get 80% of the vote. And it will just be a dictatorship.

OK, he does that and we are in 1776 mode....we are talking here about taxation with no representation.

We are so screwed.

Seventy thousand casualties? How about “goes through the IRS like gas station sushi.”

Obama keeps trying to find something that will cause the people to rise up in rebellion, so he can call out the troops and take over the country.

I absolutely believe that. Taxation without representation would seem to be a winner in that regard, but We The People are remarkably complacent.

That would of course be directly unconstitutional, but who’s counting? Besides, he’s got lawyers to interpret the constitution in ways no one imagined.

If executive amnesty is not stopped and Boehner uses the Democrats to get full funding, it won’t matter who the GOP runs in 2016 because there will be millions of illegals who will be given SSNs, work permits, and all the help they need to register and vote, never mind if it is legal or not. Executive action must be stopped now or there is no longer a solution within the system.

Wikipedia lists 89,500 IRS employees.

Every last one of them should be out of work when the agency is abolished.

Section 8. Clause 1. The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.

Am I confused or was this repealed by the Gruber amendment?

I certainly agree. It is why I am so adamant to my congressman that he fight against Boehner (not working, BTW). It’s why I pushed Perdue here to vote against funding.

It is also why I am so aggressively picky about illegals in who the next Republican candidate will be. Not so much as they will be able to do much after the current battle is over, but to put McConnell and Boehner on notice that the tsunami that gave them such historic majorities wasn’t because of the ‘good job’ they’ve been doing. It was because we collectively want this stuff to stop right now.

...”I absolutely believe that. Taxation without representation would seem to be a winner in that regard, but We The People are remarkably complacent.”...

90% of the American people do not know what is going on and, further more, do not have an understanding of how our government works. That is why our forefathers put checks and balances in. Now the system is corrupt because of corrupt people who have been elected by an ignorant population looking for government handouts. Who said, “The government which can give you everything you want has the power to take everything you have”. And, I would include, even your very life. The richest people now populating the earth are those who are compliant with a dictatorship in America. They think they will come out ahead by having their hand in the government treasury. They think a tyrannical government will protect them and their wealth. Think again, rich people. Think again.

Many already vote...Clinton’s motor voter has helped in the implementation. There are leftist localities trying to implement voting for illegals on “local” issues.
