According to some accounts as soon as Justice Scalia said that the audience burst out laughing.

Solicitor General Donald Verrilli, arguing on behalf of the Obama administration, warned the Court during oral arguments in King v. Burwell on Wednesday that a ruling invalidating Obamacare's insurance subsidies in most of the country would have disastrous consequences. Premiums would skyrocket, millions of people would lose their coverage, and many states' individual insurance markets could descend into chaos, he said. He just committed perjury in court and should be held in contempt and disbarred. What a crock of lies.

Justice Scalia must be living in the 80s. Congress isn’t good for anything.

Who seriesly thinks that something deemed unconstitutional should be kept none-the-less because a lawyer says bad things will happen if SCOTUS declares it to be just that?
When has that ever been a criterion that made the justices “salute” in the past?

Congress is content to create more problems that can enable them to either gain more goodies or cede more power to the executive branch.

Getting a bad feeling. Scalia and Thomas again versus the rest of SCOTUS.
Not that I have confidence in that senile old s.o.b. Hatch or any of his RINO colleagues. They should have had a plan prepared in advance.

Under our Constitution, it is irrelevant whether or not Congress will “fix” whatever situation obtains after a SCOTUS ruling. Have they not sworn to defend the Constitution? Above all else? How Congress might respond is not really their concern, since we have a separation of powers here. Or do we?
What I find even more onerous and infuriating is this “concern” about how any decision that ended the subsidies would hurt the 6 million policy holders who are getting the subsidies. Huh???? What about the tax payers who are now getting hosed by being forced to essentially pay for their fellow citizens’ health insurance? Why are the justices NOT concerned about millions of tax payers? When did this become their responsibility? And, further, where is the federal government getting the funds to pay all these subsidies for the federal exchanges? Have those funds been specifically voted and allocated by Congress? I think not, since the ACA was rammed through by the Dems to offer subsidies ONLY via exchanges created by the states.
These SCOTUS justices need to get their heads out of you know where.

I interpret this to mean Scalia will side with plaintiffs because Congress has the power to fix it.
But of course the current Congress and like subsequent Congresses will table any bill that sustains ACA in its current form.

this is the same old BS scare tactic that DC has literally abused to the hilt to circumvent our Constitution, legislate against the will of the people, eliminate our liberties, take from us our money and to grow their own power to control everything that belongs to the people. If those on the Supreme Court really care about the PEOPLE and this country, (doubtful) they will kill this unconstitutional behemoth pig called obamacare. Someone on that court needs to ask the government attorneys these questions: how much has the government spent on the ACA to date, how many people have lost health insurance compared to how many have been insured because of it and has family health insurance coverage gotten better or worse under the ACA and what are the average cost differences to the average family since the ACA was implemented? The government attorneys will play ignorant and the justices will never ask those questions because they already know the answer.

This Congress? That is the Congress that the people elected isn't it? Or is it that they expect the Congress to be in charge when Democrat's control Congress, and the courts to be in charge when Republicans do?

Of course they will. They’re not suicidal. They’ll pass a 60-day extension, and Obama will have to sign. That will give them time to come up with a bill that will radically change the ACA, and pass that.
Then Obama will have a choice of yielding to what the Republicans want, or leaving millions of people without health insurance. Either way, they’ve got him right where they want him.

Justice Scalia has a wonderful sense of humor.
To: DoodleDawg
Premiums would skyrocket, millions of people would lose their coverage, and many states' individual insurance markets could descend into chaos, he said. This has been the goal all along. I keep saying it. Don't think anyone believes it, but if SCOTUS invalidates the law, single payer will then be initiated. Watch. That's been the goal. That is what they will get, and the spineless, worthless GOP won't do a damned thing to stop it.
