If you follow the link in my earlier post, the company made it a financial decision, and a tough one at that.
They were faced with multiple cities across the US banning elephant shows and multiple lawsuits over the animals treatment. They just couldn’t fight them any more............8^(

That and the grass being flattened were the only signs left that anything had happened. I remember that a lot of the piles were in a circle.

Elephants belong in their home countries. Frankly, I dont believe in circuses or zoos. While I agree with you on principle, elephants aren't faring too well in their home countries.

There are a lot of elephants in Africa. The governments periodically round a bunch up and shoot them to prevent overpopulation and to limit their suppression of other types of wildlife.
In Botswana, for example, in 1960 there were less than 10k. Now there are over 150k in those preserves alone.

WHAT! How will they put up the BIG TENT as I saw them do back in 1953 Denver!
Oh wait, they haven’t used tents for years!
I guess Carson and Barnes and Circus VARGAS will be the only two real tent circuses left.

Turns out, after researching both females, it was discovered that they were together when they were captured over 40 years ago and brought to America. The handlers put the two females together and they cried and stroked each other with their trunks. They are best friends and inseparable.
I saw that, it was heart wrenching.......
I've gained a lot more respect for that species and how social they are amongst themselves. I remember that one elephant that killed its trainer and spent the next 50 years in solitary confinement.......How tragic! If anything, the elephant should have been put down, not locked up.
