Gunned down implies an intent to kill. This was an accidental death due to a stray bullet.
The shooter was trying to kill someone else but sucked at gun use.
Just another night in the urban dystopia.

Only been to Oakland once in my life. Staying in SF, we took BART to an A's game.
Everybody we encountered was very friendly and helpful.
I will say the A's stadium is the armpit of the MLB (and that's being kind). Why any team has to play in a place like that is beyond me.
