Former Florida Governor Charlie Crist Might Run For Senate In 2016

ByJAKE MILLER CBS NEWS March 12, 2015 Former Florida Governor Charlie Crist Might Run For Senate In 2016

He just can't help himself: former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist might run for the U.S. Senate in 2016, a bid that would mark the fourth time in ten years he's sought statewide office in the Sunshine State.

"It's very early, but he's being encouraged to seriously consider bringing the people's voice to the U.S. Senate," Kevin Cate, an adviser to Crist, told CNN on Wednesday. "And he always listens closely to Floridians."

For those of you keeping track at home: Crist first ran for governor in 2006 as a Republican, winning a four-year term. Instead of running for reelection in 2010, though, Crist decided to run for the Senate. But after his support for President Obama's 2009 stimulus package tanked his reputation among conservatives, he was chased out of the Republican primary by former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio.

Crist ran in November's general election as an independent, losing by 19 points to Rubio. He then began aligning himself with the Democratic Party, endorsing Mr. Obama's reelection in 2012, and in 2014, he ran for governor as a Democrat. He was narrowly defeated last November by incumbent Republican Gov. Rick Scott.

Rubio is expected to announce his fantasy Presidential run next month, so he’ll leave the Senate. Rubio may “anoint” the Lt. Governor, Carlos Lopez-Cantera as his successor, but nobody will beat Jeff Atwater if he gets in. Dems may have a bloodbath, however, with potentially at least 3 Congressmembers (Empty Suit Patrick Murphy from Col. West’s old seat; Lil Debbie Whackjob & Alan “Batshit Psycho” Grayson) along with the Orange Menace. Dem insiders supposedly want Murphy, as he is the least crazy of the bunch (and most viable in a statewide — though Murphy hasn’t much of a record and supposedly (and privately) contacted the GOP to switch parties to help in getting him reelected in a GOP seat, though that didn’t go through).

-——Florida is pretty much evenly divided between conservative and liberal. It doesn’t take much to swing it either way.———

Living in Florida you are correct....

The several libtards I know didn’t vote for Crist....disliked him very much...

Scott is a decent enough governor but he is a terrible campaigner....

Dry, not passionate, looks like a “grey” alien , speaks like an autouton...

He should have beaten Crist like rented mule....

That orange bastard just keeps looking for any and every angle he can play.

He seems so desperate for power, he just looks cheap. Changes parties to run for the same office in different years. Keeps trying to find an office to run for. He loses every time, but keeps on trying. He either has an ego that could only rival 0bama’s, or he owes someone some BIG favors.

It’s so nice to not be him..... lol

Which people?

Well, with his tan, I'm sure he'll be a voice to the orange people...

Charles Cristoforos..... a, uh, greek. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Photos at 11 of the polesmoking opportunist trial lawyer pimped by the nba obamaumao and medical marijuana consolidating trial lawyer and his stripper trial lawyer wife (a consolidator lawyer writes lots of letters, threatens to sue someone costing them money and then.... never goes to court, never goes to court if he’s defending you either). The environazis luuuuuve Crist cause he’ll provide more parks as outdoor venues for queer encounters in the wild.

Jeb Bush’s mentored “gift” to the people of Florida. Have to get ahead of the curve on this useless clown who does not want to EVER be seen sweating, and brought his own fan to the debates (in short- one weird perv with a damned rich “beard” wife who does not care he’s queer).

>> Rubio may “anoint” the Lt. Governor, Carlos Lopez-Cantera as his successor, but nobody will beat Jeff Atwater if he gets in <<

Based on the last two major Senate races for that seat (Rubio and Mel Martinez), here's how it will likely unfold:

Atwater won't get in. Some drab "establishment politician" (Porter Goss type) will seek the job, and Lopez-Cantera will run to his right and scream "TEA PARTY!!!" at the top of his lungs. The FL Tea Party groups will then immediately fall over themselves to endorse him, and accuse anyone who DOESN'T blindly "get behind" Lopez-Cantera of being part of the "GOPE". Lopez-Cantera will insist over and over on the campaign trail that he "disagrees" with Rubio about amnesty and believes in "border security first". He will release a campaign statement saying "I do not favor a path to citizenship for people who entered the United States unlawfully. We should not reward people who broke the law". A bunch of FL freepers will claim they know Lopez-Cantera and that is as an "outstanding, pro-life, traditional family values, rock solid conservative guy" Anyone who asks for evidence that Lopez-Cantera has consistently opposed amnesty and has a track record of doing so will be accused of "racism" against a Hispanic candidate.

"Tea Party" Lopez-Cantera will beat the "GOPE" candidate, and then promptly endorse amnesty about 3 weeks after being sworn in as U.S. Senator.

Ever since Crist officially became a RAT, I’ve been hoping that he ran for the Semate in 2016 so that he can become the first person in history to finish second in a U.S. Senate election as a Republican, Democrat and Independent. I assumed that it would be against Rubio, but he’d lose against Atwater as well.

So true. I worked on Scott’s 2014 re-election campaign and spent election day in a war room down in Bonita Springs. There were very few volunteers, and tons of paid staff on the campaign. In a room next to the war room full of lawyers was a room full of campaign analysts and consultants looking at precinct counts and turnout projections. They were palpably nervous throughout the day, but in the end Scott took it by 70,000 votes out of 5.6M cast. He spent a ton of money, and it was still that close. So, Florida is a true coin toss state.

photo mother240p_zpsdd964c4f.jpg I remember when this guy along with Connnie Mack came to DeFuniak Springs. They were giving away free hot dogs and cokes. I voted for him and he was not that bad a Governor but I will never ever vote for another Bush. I don't care if his opponent is Satan himself.

Heh. That would be ideal. If Crist was the RAT nominee, he’d find a way to lose to even a weak Republican. I haven’t had that much fun since Walter Mondale replaced Paul Wellstone on the ballot and became the first person in history to lose an election in all 50 states.

I am not sure when I saw the light on the Bushes. I was uneasy with them even when voting for the lesser of two evils.

I think Bush prosecuting the White cops in the Rodney King case may have been the straw. Actually when I first saw that video of them beating King, I had the same reaction as most but I had time off and watched the entire trial No doubt in my mind that the cops were innocent. Then Bush basically gave orders that they should all go to prison, that is except the one Hispanic cop.

The other think was when Bush stabbed gun owners in the back when we were in a huge battle over gun rights. Charlton Heston called the BATF jack booted thugs and Bush resigned from the NRA very publicly and supported the thugs.

It became clear that he was not like us. He was a NE muckety muck who thought of us country folk in Florida or Texas or the South as rednecks.

For a while Jeb seemed to be the only one not attacking us and he did get a huge amount of roads built and repaired. Bridges built etc. However now he is in with the open borders guys and that did it for him too.

Apparently, it doesn’t take much for Charlie Crist to swing either way.

I’d love it if Murphy vacates his House seat. It would be hilarious if he lost a rat primary to Crist.
