In victory speech, Netanyahu says he will seek 'strong, stable government'

A triumphant Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Likud supporters in his victory speech early Wednesday that he would aim to form "a strong, stable government" that would tackle "security and socioeconomic challenges."

Netanyahu told a jubilant crowd of Likud supporters early Wednesday morning that "against all odds, we have scored a major victory for the Likud."

"Hail, hail, Bibi," Likud adherents chanted as Netanyahu took to the podium on Wednesday.

"We have scored a major victory for the nationalist camp headed by Likud," Netanyahu said.

"I'm proud of the Israeli people because at the moment of truth they knew to differentiate between challenge and nonsense and they took up the challenge," the prime minister said.

Netanyahu said that his government will work to improve on "the most important things for all of us, which genuine security and socioeconomic welfare."

After the prime minister raised eyebrows in the latter stages of the campaign by warning of a high voter turnout among Israel's Arabs, Netanyahu seemed to be extending an olive branch to Israel's minorities during his speech.

Don’t be misled by the exit polls.

The popular vote shows the Likud running 6% points ahead of Zionist Union!

Netanyahu won re-election by a comfortable margin and the actual vote count should lead to a healthy uptick in seats for the Likud.

I caught the NBC nightly news opening.
Boy do they hate Bibi!
The election was still ‘up in the air’ but they were so angry and vicious I knew he’d won.

I said he will pull his usual....I'm outa here....and just go golfing.

Then he will give credit to himself for not attending Congress' invitation to Net.....saying he gave the Israelites the right to choose without thew interference of the United States....or something like that.

But he'll wait a day or two....take some meds...and then make a speech about Israel being our closest and most important ally.

And the next time out....he'll screw Net...just as he has done throughout his presidency.

Has he ever been to Israel since he was President?

Is it decided—or still pending?

Now let's see if he keeps his word or, like our own Republicans, starts "moderating" his stances.

Netanyahu, though he looks like a saint compared to Obama, has never really been the "blood and iron" Israeli leader so many like to think. And Likudniks have a nasty habit of disappointing after victories. Sound familiar?

Popular vote shows the Likud way ahead - the TV networks projections need to be adjusted.

Yes, but he refused to set foot inside the Knesset.
