Lots of things happening today...the first day of spring! Solar eclipses and CERN.... just might be a Great Day after all.

Wasn’t that Billy Jeff? I may be thinking of something else.

No, Bill Clinton cancelled the Texas project. It was so far in development I never understood why it was halted. Wasted money right and left and brain power. I wonder if it was flawed and they used that experience to start over. I would never know.

Obviously not my primary concern, open carry is. ;)
But I do pay a little attention to Texas stuff like the supercollider.
I expect I'm wrong about who was pres when it was cancelled. FR is a good place to get corrected.

I didn’t think anything could explain particle physicists!

"the invisible particle that gives everything mass" I don't think this statement is true.
I heard that Higgs bosons only give some types of matter mass.

I like the part where it says they’re hoping for something unexpected.

What **could** go wrong?
Well, some folks have given this some thight
In John Ringo’s Into the Looking Glass, the University of Central Florida is destroyed by a 60 kiloton explosion that is first thought to be a nuclear weapon, but turns out to be a mishap from a Higgs boson research experiment. Following the explosion, gateways to other worlds are opened and a war with the aliens on the other side of the gates begins..
Not always right, but this is very much unknown territory...

"I promise that we will not be disappointed if we instead discover something completely unanticipated!"and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.

Odd that people who talk about the “flying spaghetti monster” are gaga about the Higgs boson. They have not shown me a picture, only instrument readings which show it may exist.
