A fierce row has broken out between Stephen King and Maine Governor Paul LePage after the governor claimed that the author doesn't pay state income taxes and has moved away from the state. King immediately shot back that LePage should 'man up and apologize' for the comments because he still resides in Maine. LePage's comments came during his weekly radio address when he argued that states without an income tax, like Florida, have lured away Maine residents, including King.

King is worth over $300 million, so I guess he doesn’t mind.
I hear LePage on Howie Carr’s show. He’s great.
I’ve heard the governor on the Howie Carr show out of Boston, too.
The governor’s wife, Ann, is a class act. She does a lot of work for disabled veterans....she even went skydiving with one of these men.
Anyone know of any high-profile libs who actually pay MORE in taxes than legally required? I mean, shouldn’t they put their money where their mouth is?
I've seen the place. The Adams family turned it down as being too scary.
Florida has tourists and Texas has oil.
In Atlas Shrugged, the moochers neatly dealt with the problem of state-fleeing to avoid crushing taxes... it was made illegal. Rand saw this coming 70 years ago.
He's worth upwards of half a billion dollars so I wouldn't worry about his tax bill.
Nothing per se. But if you're trying to make political points by saying someone isn't paying taxes in the state then you should probably double check your accuracy first.
He does sorta look like he’s going the Bruce Jenner route, doesn’t he?
Imho, that’s not the issue. It’s not King’s responsibility to support the citizens of Maine.
That is why the federal government wants to nationalize everything (ObamaCare being the latest); it makes fleeing useless.
It's home. He was born there and has almost all his life there. Why is that so hard to understand?
Bingo.
Now we are evil if we refuse to stay in a state that overtaxes us and move to a different, more hospitable state?
We are indeed considered the property of The State when a “Republican” governor claims we owe it to him to stay and be robbed of our earnings.
That is why the Yankees have spring training in Florida; I believe players are only taxed on the income earned in NY (both by the state and city, which has its own income tax) if they don’t live there.
Rush Limbaugh’s move to Florida was a great demonstration of this, the governor of NY stupidly said they didn’t need Rush in NY, so he moved (with his tax dollars) to Florida. When someone hosts a radio show, it is foolish to chase them out like that - they can work from anywhere.
Was she on top or the bottom?
I remember when mega millionaire Howard Metzenbaum, the tax raising liberal senator from Ohio, moved to Florida just before he croaked to avoid estate taxes.
Why are you supporting the people of Massachusetts?
It’s out of his abundance that he pays, not out of poverty. He’s not going to not be able to buy something because he paid his taxes.
your guv sounds like everything Marx Dayton is not
