I agree. The person gaming the system to file suits, really bother me. I do see some need for litigation along these lines, if as you say, there is a guilty party.

I’m more of a “compensate me for my losses” sort of person. I’m not interesting in becoming wealthy off a suit.

I’m not sure of the liability, but do not blame the mom. Realize that the last time her child accidentally had nuts, maybe he got something like asthma or vomiting. She may not realize that the next time he would die.

I ate macadamia nuts my entire life and now I am suddenly severely allergic. Allergies are weird things. It’s my first food allergy and I’m over 40.

Oddly enough they’ve found that kids exposed to nuts at a very, very young age are unlikely to develop the allergy or at least will not have a life-threatening reaction.

Yeah, I’m glad I can eat peanut butter. But I am afraid that macadamia allergy also is or is becoming a tree nut allergy too, so I’m going to stay away from them. Three weeks ago I had almonds and there was some slight mouth swelling.

I already can’t tolerate msg, so I eat pretty naturally. I don’t know why that woman didn’t get something at the store like Rice Chex that is proven gluten free and no nuts. Why take a risk at store made baked goods.

Monosodium glutamate is the sodium salt of glutamic acid, one of the most abundant naturally-occurring non-essential amino acids. MSG is found in tomatoes, Parmesan, potatoes, mushrooms, and other vegetables and fruits.-—wikipedia

People are working on this theory, but as far as I know no conclusions have been made public.
