I imagine when this young lady hears a conversation in Italian she has, at best, a mixed reaction of romantic nostalgia, and extreme dread. She became fluent in the language during incarceration. Many times, the brain will morph in order to adapt and make sense of it’s immediate environment.

I honestly believe she was also scapegoated by the parents of Meredith, who have kept pestering for Amanda to ‘come clean,’ as if hounding Amanda is a form of therapy for them.
